New stereo

Hello again,
I just bought a full system, minus the subs due to weight, for my 1994 GSR sedan. I got a Clarion DRX9575rz HU, Polk/Momo 6.5 components for the front doors, Infinity Kappa 693.5i 6X9s for the rear fill, and a Fosgate 300X 4 channel amp. Problem is, I'm starting to worry about clearrance/size issues. I have heard that the door speakers are 5.25 but others say 6.5. Then the rear, I want to retain my factory grills but I have read that the top mount depth defeats this wishful thinking. Any ideas? Also, how do you think this will all sound?

i do believe you have 5 1/4 in the front. as far as the back i donot know, but i will try to find out unless someone else posts the size on here before i can. it should sound pretty good together though if it is installed right and setup properly.

sounds like a nice system...

for the acura teg gsr crutchfield's ez fit guide says 6.5's all around. lol.

the regular teg sedan of that year is 6.5 up front and 6x9 in the back... this is likely what you have.

black95gs-t 04-30-2002 02:32 PM

that should work

Yeah, I figured. I just got a little worried once I saw all the conflicting numbers. Thanks a lot for the help guys.

the 94 teg has either 5" 1/4 or 6" 1/2 for the front with a depth of 1 7/8

and 6 1/2 with a 6" depth for the rear.

Maxvla 04-30-2002 07:48 PM

we really do have conflicting numbers...

i'd trust mine. the source has always been very accurate.

And the winner is.......Maxvla! I went ahead and pulled off all the grills since these sizes keep conflicting and measured. The doors are 6.5 and the rears are obviously 6X9. Thanks again

Alright, I got stupid. Instead of the fosgate 300X I went with the 550X for the components and 6X9's. Then I bought a Fosgate Punch HX2 10". The rms power on it is 500 watts. i am wondering what is a good amp to push this one 10?

black95gs-t 05-17-2002 12:41 AM

i would suggest at least a 500 watt rms amplifier. prefiribly not fosgate though. i would get a 2 channel probably 600-800 rms though. need be you could always turn down the gain. you don't want to have the gain turned all the way up on any amp you have. plus it gives you more flexibility on your next system if you don't like this one.

Dude, you can give generic numbers for, let's say, duration and lift and I can do something with it. But you tell me get an amp but not Fosgate and I'll probably end up buying a Jensen.(I only said that because even I know all their stuff is crap.) What brand, model, etc.? I'm not a real big stereo guy.

black95gs-t 05-24-2002 01:51 PM

you get most of your stuff from best buy and circuit city, right? well here is my first piece of advice. STOP!!!!!! especially best buy. there are alot of good ones out there. Autotek is really good for the money. they sound good and are not that expencive. but stay away from the ss and street machine models. mean machine in autotek is a must. phoenix gold titanium is a decent amp, overpriced, but sounds pretty good. i like the MMATS. but they are not feasable for low power or low cost systems. they are strictly audiophile equipment. if you can get your hands on a Precision Power PC model amp, any of them sound good, but also are overpriced unfortunately. do not buy a Precision Power PCX model though. totally crappyfied. cadence makes some good stuff. audio art makes nice stuff too. any more specific than that, just ask.
