h22a vs b18c

which engine has the most potential in a 94 hatch? a prelude or integ. type r???

I'm assuming you mean Civic hatch.

My friend has a JDM H22A in his 93 hatch, and we have video of it outrunning a C5 Corvette. That car is crazy fast. The disadvantage: No belt driven accessories. You have to give up your A/C, ABS, and power steering. However, this also means less parasitic drag. Also, since the H22A is larger than a B series engine, understeer will become much more apparent, but nothing that can't be corrected with some beefy sway bars.

If you want something a little more daily driver friendly, put in a B18C and bore it out to bump up displacement. That way you also keep all your belt driven accesories, not to mention the swap itself will be much less "invasive" yo your engine bay.

I would like to see that video if you could up load it to me. We have some of are own videos but the cars are not that fast so its not really that cool.

2ndgenteg... ur friends 94 hatch... please tell me ALL the problems hes had with it... Im looking at a 5th gen hatch myself as a project car and before I buy it I want to know everything I can about it so I can make the best and smartest decision as whether to buy it or a different car such as a 240sx with sr20det swap:yes:

yelizardking 05-07-2002 12:33 AM

how much would i be able to bore out the b18c? (very interesting...i thouhgt you couldn't bore it out anymore)

ChrisCantSkate 05-07-2002 12:22 PM

go with the h22 its more powerfull, more potential too. the itr already has real good pistions, cams, rods, header etc. the h22 puts out thye same hp and 30 LB/FT MORE tq and has no where near the upgrades of the itr engine.get a real big rear sway bar and bite your lip and hold on... you'll need to
