removing the center console

ok i wanted to remove the center console (if I didnt get the terminology rite. it is the section where the arm rest is) to change my carpet...I unscrew the four screws...but somehow I cant seem to yank the thing off...I dont want to pull it out any harder because I am afraid I might break it. It's there any other screw from it that i'm missing?

I don't know about your civic, but in my Accord, there is a little "door" in the part that opens up with 2 screws in it.

I had no problem. Took off the screws and lifed it over the parking break.

HondaTypeJ 04-15-2002 05:26 PM

BY THE WAY: Where did you order your carpet from?

heartbreakkid 04-15-2002 06:37 PM

oh i just went to Home Depot and bought the carpet and I jz gonna tape my old carpet over the new one and started cutting to the pattern of the old carpet

HondaTypeJ 04-15-2002 06:58 PM

Hmm, thats pretty cool. How did you get the idea?

slowEJ6 04-15-2002 08:16 PM

i did that same thing, got the carpet from autozone, looks so much better than my old faded carpet. didnt have to do much cutting either.

heartbreakkid 04-15-2002 11:10 PM

oh i got the idea when i started grilling my car....I trace the bumper and place over the grill and cut it out...fix perfectly to the bumper (stock)...so I try the same way with the carpet w/o the tracing...

i am not 100 % sure
but i think there are only two screws that under the cover that under the e brake
the one u took off...

maybe the middle part is covering it, that's why it's hard to take it out....
or maybe the astray, u can figure this out, just don't use TOO MUCH force.. it will break :P

good luck

Dude! I am going to do that with my car. So I can go down to any AutoZone or HomeDepot and get the color I want? How hard is it to reinstall the new carpet? Any tips would help. Thanks.

slowEJ6 04-16-2002 04:18 PM

its easy if you are patient and good at cutting things.

HondaTypeJ 04-16-2002 08:59 PM

Ok, I am going to head down to home depot tomorrow and check it out. Where should I go? Home Depots are HUGE. I get lost.:D How much do you recommend I get (length, etc). ALSO, is there like a certain type of carpet I should get? Thanks!
