Lowering Springs vs. Coilovers

just wanted to get everyone's opinion on what they think are better, coilovers or lowering springs

iamsparticuz 03-21-2002 10:08 AM

Also, whats the difference?

it's easier to show you then try to explain (a pictures' worth a thousand words :) ).

coilovers : http://www.mmrusa.com/skunkcoils.jpg
they are adjustable, like the ones i have are adjustable between 0 to 4 inch drop.

lowering springs : http://www.doctorimport.com/sprintsprings.jpg
are basically just shorter springs with a set height.

With nice true coilovers, you get a perfectly matched strut and spring, resulting in the best handling.

With COs the ride is usually harsh, since its purely tuned for performance.

If adjustable ride height doesnt interest you the least bit, then good spring and shocks are the way to go.

Dont forget, every time you modify the ride height, the camber and alignment need to be adjusted.
