air filter question
My car is almost 2 years old I just realized that I never changed the air filter. Yes....it was very black, with bugs and sticks, n'stuff. Anyways, I picked up a new filter and was suprised thjat my car felt no different with a new filter than with the old. Are filter really that important? Was I losing Hp with the dirty filter? Did I gain any with a new one?
By the way, this is only temporary before I get my AEM CAI. |
well if you notice no difference in horsepower you prolly got a crappy filter. if you are saving up for that aem get a cheapy k+n oem replacement. it really does make a difference and you never hafta replace it just clean it every several thousand miles.

if u gopt a cheap ass filter you mught as well remove the air box and put a sock on the intake pipe :D. cheap filters don't do any good myabe get a better gas mileage. on the other hand a 40 dollar k&n will give you better trottle response, and a louder engine.

Get a K&N filter. But yes, it was still a good idea to clean a dirty filter...
|
True, the new filter I bought wsa a $10 Fram, but it was better than the old one. BTW, I had a 1985 Firebird before my Accord and I had a K&N in there. With that filter I felt almost no improvement to the performance. Will the K&N be any different on an Accord or will I see the same minimal improvements?

i had a K+N on my accord til i got my intake. yes there is a difference. not much but what can you expect from a 38$ filter. at least you will never hafta replace it.
the fram you will. |
You're not even going to notice that much of a difference with an intake on. Just get a nice K&N filter, clean it every so many miles, and your car will love you for it
