Does an Intake Kit Really Increase Gas Mileage???

i got a 91 civic hatch dx

does the Cold Air Intake Kits really give you better gas mileage and more performance?

would would change with performance? crisper throttle?

thanks

Yes, it makes your engine more efficient --> better gas mileage. If you step on the gas to hear it, drive faster, etc. you won't get better mileage.

ditto.
it will give you more hp and thus you will want to stomp on the pedal which will negate the fuel savings.
so if you're really concerned about fuel... drive like my grandma(1/4 mile - 42.011 @ 35mph).

{and no she has not raced at the track... i made that up} just some clarification for those who need it. you know who you are;) .

lol

thanks

The gas mileage would be minimal if anything. I've run CAI's on both an EX and my SI and noticed no difference.

So to sum it up, buy them for the HP not the MPG.

exactly.

Great point Civic Addict....That's about the best way to put it, but if you just cruise and don;t get on it every chance you get the MPG will stay the same or maybe better...

Go for it the intake bug will get you....LOL CAI all the way....;)
