Favorite thing about your job

So like the title says. Favorite thing/aspect of your job. Singular. Not Plural.

The reason I ask is that I was asked this a few days ago and drew a complete blank. I couldn't think of one thing right off the bat that I liked that much.

So let hear it.....

Racing Rice 06-19-2006 07:58 AM

It's easy and it pays. Granted our boss can be an ass, but you have a chance of that anywhere you go. Seriously, it's a fairly easy job that gets frustrating sometimes. If I was going somewhere else, I wouldn't want to work on computers anymore. Since I have no skills to do anything else, I don't think that's an option.

Your title is "Surfer-Web" remember? :D

I think its teh damn drive each morning. Its getting less and less worth the 1 hour commute to come here. Ya know?

Racing Rice 06-19-2006 08:01 AM

You know my feelings on that. Move! lol I know what you mean though.. I wouldn't want to drive that far to work, but then again I hate driving and get tired of driving 15 miles. lol

KwikR6 06-19-2006 08:14 AM

Although I'm only in School right now to become a fire fighter. I say the coolest thing about my school is um...well....I don't know if I can pick one thing. I'll say the coolest thing that I'm looking foreward to is VX (Vheicle Extracation) Where we get to cut cars in half and chop off roofs and everything. But really. How can you pick one thing about this job? Shit even the size of the trucks I get to drive is cool. hahah

Violent Apathy 06-19-2006 02:17 PM

I get to kill peopel and play with C4.

Mischief 06-19-2006 02:25 PM

not being stuck inside a building and doing something different all the time..

edit: i deliver hardwood flooring.. sometimes I sand / coat or install it as well.

Addict 06-19-2006 02:32 PM

I should've have added "say what your job is too". I think I know what VA does though.. Damn terrorist! ;) jfwy

ebpda9 06-19-2006 10:12 PM

hmm i guess for me there is not only one reason. can't find the pics to show you about 20 reasons.

and yeah i am a Professional Parking Driver :D

Grip72 06-19-2006 10:26 PM

meh..the best part about one of my jobs is that we only actually "work" 2 hours a night but get paid for 6...aaaaand we can get drunk or high during it hahaha

JDMFantasy2k 06-19-2006 11:03 PM

well i'm unemployed now, but i used to work for wireless resource which is a t-mobile exclusive retailer. The company sucked balls but since i worked in a half ass mall, our regional manager promoted my buddy alex to manager. So we fucked around all the time. We'd come up with games to play cause we'd get so bored.

I'm sure many of you have heard of the penis game. You know, where one person says penis, and the other person has to say it louder. Let me tell you how funny that is when you're in the middle of a mall wearing a shirt and tie.

We were supposed to pitch flyers to people walking by (yes i was one of those annoying people in the mall), but to make it interesting i'd pitch in a fake southern accent or do other dumb shit.

The best was when we'd see some douschebag and his wicked hot girlfriend and we'd say we had great plans for brothers and sisters haha

GT40FIED 06-20-2006 12:31 AM

The best thing about my job is that eventually I leave and come home.

IALuder 06-20-2006 01:43 AM

its good money and the hours are always there.

blind34_1 06-20-2006 01:47 AM

I work as a computer service tech/network service tech. When the hours where there, I liked it because I could actually do something (and get paid to do) something that I know and love.

How about that for a warm and fuzzy answer?

but yeah, sucks being a contractor, because the work is NOT always there.

So then, my response to my pizza delivery gig: i don't have to think too hard or care. just drive.

Navy is too unpredictable. I guess the best part is when I train people. It still amazes me what some of these sailors dont know about their job, especially the ones who has been in the service for while......

I market a company. I work closely with my boss/owner. I have a very low stress job that I love.

The only thing that is difficult is working the 6 days/week that is required to get the amount of work done. However my days dont start till 11am so I never complain.

Grip72 06-24-2006 12:38 AM

that'd be so nice to not have to work til 11.

i'm sick of working...i hav eworked too much when i am young..i just wnt to get old and relax

GT40FIED 06-24-2006 01:37 AM

I'm with you, Kyle. I've held down one job or another for since I was 14...I think I deserve a couple years off to have fun again. Plus I've been at my current job since I was 16. How many people get jobs when they're 16 and hold them for 8+ years?

Grip72 06-24-2006 02:32 AM

holy crap..what do you do anyways? i forget yoru name haha, my bad

yeah i've had over 12 different jobs..i just bored very easily and i seem to progress in sinority fairly fast...i just catch on to things really quickly and then i get booooored

GT40FIED 06-24-2006 03:23 AM

Well...I work in a bookstore and I used to work in the music dept. there (which kicked incomprehensible amounts of ass). Now we all just kind of work the whole store, which sucks. For a long ass time I was pretty high up in the store and then I went off to school. Now that I'm back I'm trying to get back to where I was until I graduate and find an actual career.

Well since I've worked at the same place since I was 15, I can only imagine it is more common then you might think.

Trust me, it's not. At least not here in the states. I've got friends who change jobs after a few months on a regular basis. Keeping a real job when you're a teenager is rare here. Most people get food service jobs and ditch them as quick as they can. Maybe it has to do with what kind of job you get. If it's a decent one, you'll probably stick with it.

Addict 06-24-2006 09:25 AM

I've been employed since I was about 14. At 14 I was working with my Dad. At 15 I was servin' up roast beef. At 17, I was flippin' software titles. At 21, I moved into the corporate cube farms. At 24, I switched farms and that's where I'm at now.

Mischief 06-24-2006 09:26 AM

Most of my friends and myself got out first job at a local grocery store.. I only know of like three people still there, and one is leaving soon so.
