Well i went to a machine shop that my instructor recommended, said they do awesome work. They do a lot of hondas too which is also nice. Here's the prices he quoted me, wanted to see what you guys think. He said this is absolute maximum pricing depending on what needs to be done...

Block wash, bore + hone, cut deck (if needed) = $240
crank inspect + polish = #35
valve job, mill, and assemble with supplied parts= $220
balance (if requested) = $275

I plan on using SRP pistons and maybe eagle rods (or tuner toys rods), so i don't think i need the balancing, thought that stuff was mostly for domestics.

As for the valve train i'm going to get ITR valves and springs for the intake, and then swap my intake springs to the exhaust side, heard it makes for a nice combination. I'm keeping the stock cams beacuse the gen 2 are pretty aggressive and i don't feel like getting type r cams.

Why would balancing be only for imports? Can you guarantee that all the rods weigh the EXACT same?

balancing is the process of weighing and shaving weight from heavier parts to ensure they're all the same weight... That or making sure that differences are balanced. It adds to the longevity of the engine and is done to almost any "serious" build.

Blueprinting would be documenting the actual tolerance encountered as you assemble the engine to ensure they're all w/in spec.

Those prices all seem reasonable.

What are your goals for the build? You already are turbo right?

i had the d-bomb turbo'd. I had to take it off for emissions and never put it back on because my clutch has been getting weak and my valve seals are kind of shit thanks to my cousin. But i have a new turbo for this motor, and i plan on driving it NA for a while. I mainly going for reliabilty with this setup, however i'd like to try and hit 300 whp, and probably run less on the street.
