Those guys remind me of a cross between Avenged Sevenfold and Story Of The Year. Good stuff. It feels good knowing I'm not the only person in the world who wished hardcore had gotten more technical. For so many years I've missed really good guitar work in heavy music. I grew up on shit like Metallica (when they were good) and tons of other metal bands and somewhere along the way (yeah...I'm lookin' at you grunge) people just figured playing ridiculous good guitar became unnecessary. It's nice to see it come back.

thermal 02-28-2006 01:24 AM

I hear that Steve. I came across some clips on putfile on these band called Children of Bodom and Dragon Force. Two heavy, super badass guitarist. It made me reminisce the good ol' days of Hardcore Metal........

I miss this kind of stuff!!!!!!

GT40FIED 02-28-2006 01:53 AM

Man...I couldn't help but laugh at that first clip. Those guys just look like total fucking losers.:D That...and the guy on the right was running his guitar through a synth processor which is just flat out gay.

The second one was more my style...if the guy didn't have hair past his ass.

thermal 02-28-2006 02:28 AM

I still think that they have amazing talent. Most people who can play guitars like that look like that anyway.... (maybe that is why I can never play like that....ha ha ha). Adding that synthesizer to create that sound is just the same as running it through a distortion program... just different in sound.....

The second one definitely is my style too......

Well I guess I'm a purist. The kind of processor he's using is synth (that's why it sounds like a violin) which means it's digital. Most pedals are analog (the good ones, anyway). I just don't believe in taking an analog signal from a guitar and turning it digital. It always sounds so...soulless. Besides, no one's even made really thick distortion with a pedal. It takes a good head with tons of wattage. All a pedal will do is give you fuzz.

Mischief 02-28-2006 07:01 AM

funny you mention both those bands because I have shitloads of music from them both..
