Drove a Silva today

It was a pretty sweet car. I'm truly impressed... it def. needed some work but it was fun to drive and had good power... def doesn't feel like a 2.0 powering that thing...

Friend of mine had it at his shop doing some little stuff... he didn't do the swap... kid got it done somewhere else...

Something was drastically wrong with something... it sounded like bad ground feedback in the stereo but it was coming from the engine... not sure at all what it was... High pitched whirring but not like a typical turbo clean whistle... like loud and scratchy.

Maybe a turbo seal or bearing... I've never been around boosted cars too much.

And it was pissing boost by the guage. but it still went pretty freaking good... fueling was with a Vortech FMU and from what I've heard/read those things are for shit... but agian car was fun to drive... went sideways but controlled REAL easy. It's pretty obvious why those are drift cars.

If there is some distortion from the stereo that seems to radiate with the engine, he probably needs to look into his ignition. Does he have aftermarket ignition system?

i would guess hes got a hot wire touching metal.

yea my friend just did a conversion and i got another starting his. fucking fun as cars. but my friend Ryan (who was a member) just kept the KA and boosted it.

No it's not distortion... I don't know if you've ever heard it but when you have a bad ground and an amp sometimes alternator squeel comes through the tweeters...

This isn't whats happening here though because I turned off the stereo...

It's def a bearing noise but it doesn't seem to match the revs of the engine perfectly...

My guess was a bearing in the turbo... but it turns out that they did a clutch so it might be the throw out bearing as well...

I'll post an update when they figure it out.

i dont think throw out bearing, you would know if it was that just by trying to shift.

Keep in mind it's brand new so it wouldn't instantly fail... it could just be whining away until it does... could be contacting something etc.

yea thats true.
