Is that a JRC FMIC? Too small man. Even my d-series FMIC at 10 psi wa bigger than that. It also looks like that it is a tube and fin design. With your built motor, why not go bigger and more efficient. Get a bar and plate design such as Precision or Spearco.

IALuder 02-14-2006 05:49 PM

well its a hundred bucks, i dont plan to boost much power at first and its my first build. i dont know what half the shit you said ment.:D

AzCivic 02-14-2006 06:59 PM

oh ok cool. then hurry up already

IALuder 02-14-2006 08:07 PM

i know, i need start putting shit together and stop collecting everything.

thermal 02-14-2006 11:15 PM

Low boost is not the issue here man. It is "efficiency". Why spend so much money on your motor then use a cheap IC....

IALuder 02-15-2006 01:23 AM

so what do you recommend?

GT40FIED 02-15-2006 04:56 AM

I'm a big fan of Spearco myself. But then again, my IC was made for another application and it's HUGE. It's supposed to be a direct fit for Mustangs, but I had to do a little "massaging" to get it in there.

thermal 02-15-2006 10:00 AM

Spearco or Precision. Bar and Plate design.

IALuder 02-15-2006 02:51 PM

what is bar and plate design?

thermal 02-15-2006 03:25 PM

There are two major air-to-airintercooler design: "Bar and Plate" and "Tube and Fin". You can easily tell the difference by looking at the end tanks to view the design. You'll see that bar and plate also has fins inside tha bar in which charged air passes through, whereas tube and fin doesnt. Bar and plate has been proven to remove heat better due to its design. Remember the most of the cooling (heat transfer) occurs on the first 3-5 inches of the intercooler.

IALuder 02-15-2006 03:29 PM

oh i c. but whats size ic do you recommend. i mean fuck i dont got much room to work with.

JDMFantasy2k 02-15-2006 03:56 PM

i'm running a 6x3x30 johnnyracecar.com intercooler. Awesome quality and unbeatable price. Lot of people on HMT use them too. You can also get them at his Ebay auctions

IALuder 02-15-2006 04:16 PM

hmmm. i might look that up.

JDMFantasy2k 02-15-2006 06:42 PM

go to HMT.com cause if you click on the sponsors tab there's another company called CCA that does cheap intercoolers, and i think they're like my JRC

thermal 02-15-2006 07:36 PM

Both JRC and the lower CCA FMIC are tube and fin. Ha ha... my civic is even on CCA's site.

I dont know if you want to keep your bumper support. I took mine off to allow mounting for a decent size intercooler

IALuder 02-15-2006 08:09 PM

im not losing another lude becuase of that.

JDMFantasy2k 02-15-2006 09:32 PM

yeah i still have mine, tight fit, but it fits. I figure unless you're looking for more than 300 hp something like a 6x3x30 should suffice. Plus you could always modify the support a little if you had to.
