Custom Stereo for my '65 Vette
I am looking to put a new system in my vette, and I want to hide most everything, and WILL NOT cut anything. Her is what I am planning on .. lemme know what you think.
ALPINE 9860 Headunit 5.25" 50.7 Infinity Kappa Perfect Component Speakers 10.1d 10" Infinity Kappa Perfect Sub Infinity Reference 7541A Amplifier I don't need anything nuts, just something better than the crap I have now. Here is an idea I was going to use.. http://www.imagestation.com/album/pi...20855054&idx=6 But I would like to have some kind of remote IR sensor so I don't have to drive around with the glovebox door open. Also, what about a remote screen to mount outside the glovebox? Do they even make those? The stereo won't fit in the stock location which is why I want to do this.. stock radio was something like 4" wide by 2.5" tall |
Hello?
|
nice H/U, speakers and sub... however, do NOT use the infinity amp, very low-quality piece. I'm currently running:
Alpine 7995 Infinity 6.1 6.5" components Infinity 10.1d JL Audio 500/1 and 300/4 Perfectly clean signal and sound through the entire frequency range, can't think of anything better to recommend... will get pictures up after my custom carpet/plexiglass setup is complete |
You running two amps? And why does infinity make such great speakers but crap amps? What about orion or anything like that?
|
I dont want to sign up to see your pics....
Cant you just throw them on www.imageshack.us :) |

yup, one amp for the sub and one for the speakers... my alpine H/U doesnt have an internal amp and the infinity speakers are power-hungry as it is... as for why infinity makes crappy amps, I don't honestly know why. I would of course suggest my JL amps as I love them, but JBL makes clean amps for less and I absolutely love older xtant amps... |
k here you go....

Ok the infinity amp is 114x4 @ 4 ohms RMS while a precision power amp for the smae price is 50x4w @ 4 ohms... less than 1/2 the power.. what gives? And what is so shitty about infinity?
|
it all depends on what you can bridge the amps down to... i dont remeber the exact math, but i know at 2 ohms it gives X amount more power, and if it can go down to 1 ohm, its a monster. come to think about it, each amp is different in what ohm load it can hold, and what its true power is.
ive had very good luck with rockford and kendwood amps in the past, i havnt looked into car audio in probobly 3-4 years, but my amp is still kicking fine for what i have it for, just one 10'. |
