Never buy a GMC
So I've been having this issue with my truck lately. Every now and then it'll take turns and I'll hear a rubbing/grinding noise that was coming from the driver's side front end. At first I thought it was a bushing or some shit. Then yesterday it got worse and there was an rpm-dependent noise until I shut my truck off. Today I checked the PS pump. Yeah...it's bone dry. My guess is that it came out of the cap slowly over time because the cap is an ill-fitting piece of mickey moused shit. I swear, in the 4 years I've owned this truck it's given me 10 times as many problems than my 21 year old Mustang ever has. No wonder GM is losing billions of dollars...their stuff is shit. Fuck GM...and GMC in particular.

My buddy's dad is one of the higher-ups at a local GM facility... we're talkin money-making white collar here.
He used to tell me, "Pat, dont ever buy another GM car..." And he was glad when I picked up my Honda. "Theyre only designed to last about 5yrs, and then fall apart." |
in steve's case i think there is a loose nut behind the wheel ;)

Another nice perk is the filler tube for the P/S pump. On the Mustang it's right there and so easy to reach. The pump on this thing is buried under miles of crap. It's got a neck on it about a foot long with a bend in it. Looks like it was made by some kid in shop class. Come to think of it, it looks like it was made by ME in shop class...and I was never allowed to take shop.

my schools never had shop....

So much to checking fluids regularly?:D I can't say much. I don't either. Though it seems with most american autos in general. They just require more attention. |
hey steve does your truck have the same conversion that your mustang does?
|
Yes, it does.
