coilover's???
ok i am going to get some coilover's and i was woundering if anybody has some or has talked to somebody with them? and does it really make a difference if it has a helper spring or if it doesn't?
|
Which models are you looking at?
|
i was looking at the APC, Ractive , Weapon-R, or Neuspeed ! i am kind of on a tight budget right now though
|
Well, I can really only recommend a "true" coilover setup, I would stay away from sleeves. If you are on a tight budget, I'd go with some nice springs and struts. We could better help you if you'd tell us how much you are willing to spend on a setup.:)

well i quess i don't trully understand the whole sleeve thing! i thought it was the spring and every thing!! but i am looking to spend 300-400 on it!

Well, when you properly lower your car, you will need new springs and struts. True coilovers incorporate the spring and strut together and also give you height, sometimes damping, etc. adjustability. A good true coilover will run you $1000+ Even a cheap sleeve will run $200-$350, but you pretty much need struts to go with it. In all honesty, I recommend just saving some more money so you can drop it correctly. Also, if you want more info on lowering and suspension, read through the suspension forum and/or use the search function. |
im running Weapon R coilovers with GAB 8 way ajustable shocks... they feel great and ride like rails......
but then yes the real coils are a hell of a lot better... but for 1500?!?! i dunno bout that one.... its nice to have.... but alpine..... i like my sleeves.... i dont like the helper springs... makes things a lot harder when you want to compress it... i find theres no difference.. |
check out ground control coilovers...my buddy has em and he was really happy with them...
|
APEXi WS - $800. i suggest saving up
Lo-Boyz coilovers - $600. not very performance oriented but not bad for the price. sleeved coilovers = no no, imo |

Id stay away from sleeves too.. I had a set of skunks and the spring rates didnt work well with the shocks and it made the ride stiff and bouncey, I put my Eibach springs back on and Im super happy with them now. I say save for a "real coilover" or just go with a good set of drop springs.. |
ok well thank you!! i think i have too do a little research
|
get a fully adjustable coil over NOT the sleeves. i have GC sleeves and i am very satisfied with it. the only problem is, i blew out my stock struts/shocks:|. i do however have a set of KYB/AGX waiting to be installed......:)

neuspeeds
I installed my Neuspeed coil-overs that I got from Neuspeed for $799 shipped. It was a great price and I love em. After the turbo, it was the best performance mod I made. They are still on sale from Neuspeed but a slightly higher price $899 shipped. A buddy of mine just got a set.
