I did an HU install in a 2001 SI.. I didnt disconnect the the neg or anything and I didnt blow any fuses..

It is a good idea to disconnect the (-) just to be safe.. Cause its quiet easy to trigger the air bag launch..

trigger the air bag now that would be hella funny emgine that your sitting there under the dash putting the final touches and BOOM air bag!!! how would that be for a suprise!! Brandon could you explain a lil further as to exactly why you disconect the neg bat terminal i heard it was a good thing just wondering WHY????

LOL its true man.. its damn crazy when those things blow out..
It happened only once to me.. Though I wasnt the one working on that car..

Still scared the shit out of me..
:o ;(

Lets put it this way.. If you take your car to an audio shop, they'll disconnect the neg before doing any electrical work, or going under dash...

At home, when I'm just taking my HU out, I wont really disconnect it.. But, its definately a wise thing to do.

Just to be safe, always disconnect the battery. That way you have nothing to worry about.
