my account is lost/can't login
 

well i ran windows xp pro for about 2 years now and never had a problem until yesterday, when i shut down my computer and an error message appeared telling me that some application cannot be terminated ( i didn't pay too much attention to it), but when i tried to restart my computer again the administrator login was the only one account available. i looked and my user files are still on the hdd. when i force it to start with my account (with tweak ui) it will start, but after i shut the computer down it will go to the admin account again. also when i look thru the accounts i see only admin and guest, and when i try to create an account with my old name it tells me that an account with the same name already exists. any clues ?

Is there still a folder with your account name in c:\doucments and settings\

yup there is. i fixed it. microsoft had some problems like this. i think it's error 1517
