question regarding engine specs...
i have a d16y8 in my 97 ex honda civic. i was always under the assumption that this sohc engine was not built on vtec techonology. however, when i was looking at some engine specs, it said:
D16Y8 1.6 16V SOHC VTEC-II PGM-FI 1590 127hp@6600rpm 107tq@5500rpm '96-'00 Civic EX (USA) what is vtec-II as opposed to, for example, just plain vtec, as it was listed for b series engines... does anyone happen to know? |
our engines have VTEC only on intake, and obviously it's a SOHC. So the exhaust lobes look the same but for intake lobes it looks like the traditional VTEC lobes (2 smaller lobes on the outside with one big lobe in the middle) You should be able to hear it engage around 5400 rpm.
