Server Crashed
 

The server hosting hstuners went down last night at around 10PM. The techs were unable to figure out how to bring it back up after swapping out various parts because they are no longer using that type of server in their datacenter. Their lousy company policy says they won't help move customer data, and because the server was running on a SCSI drive instead of IDE, they say they could not swap it into another server that has SCSI because there wasn't any available (bs). I restored the backup of the database from 8/14 at around 3 am to a temporary server. So we lost about a day's worth of posts. I'll be ordering a new server from another hosting company and will be moving the site over to it's new home after it has been configured. Sorry about the downtime.

that's cool man. maybe it is time to upgrade to the new buletin board too ;)

fuck off. i really dont see the board getting any new members or anything. beside i never said shut it down, i just dont see the point in upgrading.

So the board doesn't have enough members, so it's not worth making some upgrades that might attract new members? That's some wicked circular logic. Whether or not it gets upgraded is, of course, up to Kalvin...but I sure wouldn't complain (either way).

i really dont give shit what you guys decided to do. if upgrading cost money, is to much work and/or is going to shut the board down for weeks. i think its pointless.

sure lets upgrade thatll attract members. even tho you havent tried any other method. why not a google ad, banners, ect. oh thats was to much work if i remember right.

Edit: i become a mod when i start to help stefan and his online buisness. i never ask to be a mod. stefan just gave it to me for helping him. so i could manage his section on the forum. if you think i dont deserve it take it.

umm if you really think about it, the whole mod thing is kind of insignificant because there's till only like 20ppl, and we almost all know eachother on a first name basis. And how often do you really use your mod powers? right. So let's not piss and moan about it. We've all become a little online community, and quite frankly, i like how it's small. You don't have to deal with shitbags like you find on Honda Tech, and we still joke and have fun.

But hey, if the site grows, then hopefully it's for the better. My $.02

well yeah, i like it a small comunity too, but we need to grow a bit. and for the mod thing ben is helping me with the parts business even tho i haven't cut him a check yet :o Seriously if you think ht is bad check out g2ic. they seem to be even worse. As for the technical knowledge we could use some more of it here.

anyways yes I do like us as a small community aswell but it couldn't hurt to have more people

the community here is cool, a few more people would be nice.
I see no reason for an upgrade,if anything maybe a website to go along with the forums.just my oppinion.:smoking:
