Nicest Sounding Exhaust?

What cat-back exhaust system would sound the nicest for my 92 civic hb?

Depends on what YOU like!

Personally, I do a lot of driving and don't wanna attract cops. Plus, I don't care for the 'angry bumblebee' sound. So, I went the low, throaty route...

Been real happy with it - no complaints!

im like everyone else and went with the greddy.... i don't know what it sounds like by itself b/c when i put it on, i already had the intake and header put on. it sounds reallu good right now though!

i like thermal rd. i am a thermal whore tho :smoking:

sideshow775 06-25-2005 02:33 PM

i don't want it to be extremely loud. I have a header and intake as-well. I also don't want it to be like the average mmmo...mmmmmmo sound that most people have. Just nice and clean sounding, but i don't want it to sound stock.

RS*R mag sounded real nice on my civic, until those bastards stole the rear section!!!ARGHHHH:mad: You could always make your own exhaust, that way if it turns out bad it was a test, and if it turns out good it was intuition!!!

Yeah, that's the good thing and bad thing about Honda exhausts. With a good ratchet wrench, and a six pack o' beer under your belt, you can have the rear section off your ride in 60 seconds...

with no full prints, just smudges, and in the middle of my old apartment complex. on the tibby, when i put my exhaust on it, im welding all of the bolts and flanges, except on the header, cause i don't want any bastard messing with my baby!! oh i love it. But yeah almost any full exhaust system will sound good, as long as it is good qaulity. sorry to ramble on but i started celebrating my b-day a little early!!! (damn blue laws!!!)

i'm trying to emulate that sound right now but i think i have to much back pressure in my vocal cords so i don't know exactly what you're referring to. ;)

for a mild sound look for a greddy or maybe find a used dc sports sitting around. the muffler design will pretty much dictate your sound, less muffler = more sound.

apexi has designed a new muffler with a pressure activated silencer that keeps the silencer closed in the muffler during idle and low rpms and then as your rpms rise the silencer opens allowing more air to pass through at wot.

Get a Hayame set-up. It's not really popular, but its one hell of a good looking muffler and piping. Really good sound, OK performance and affordable, 150+ less than a Greddy setup.

Oh yeah, its loud but deep, meaning its loud but not that loud at the same time (hope you got that) .

Apexi World Sport is where quite and an average gain of hp is at.

but if you can tell me a performance exhuast that is quite ill give you 5 bucks.

Check out Magnaflow. Best price for a quality full stainless set-up and it's got a deep and quiet tone.

AkimboStylee 06-28-2005 02:25 AM

In what set-up? I had a Magnaflow cat-back on my 7th gen and most people didn't even realize it had an exhaust until after I got above 5k. I also had a Magnaflow muffler welded up to my 2.5" piping on my 4th gen and when combined with a working cat and resonator it had only a marginally higer volume than the stock system. That car also had a sri and header so it would be expected that it would be quite loud. When I ran a test pipe on that set-up it would run noticeably louder, but someone who's looking for a quite set-up shouldn't be touching the cat to begin with... much less removing the resonator.

silver 06-28-2005 02:28 PM

yeah...magnaflow does not equal loud.
