Blown Sub

Well this is my second blown sub in two years....and i have NO idea y...its a alpine type s.....12 inch..cant remember if its the dual voice coil..or what...but i blew it....i dont go pounding it at max..i have it on 1 outa 8 (settings) and the gain on the amp is lowww...thing just pounds still...would the box have anything to do with it? its kinda a homemade one...has worked ok i guess so far..but now im wondernig if that might be the problem...any help would be great...BTW im running the digital 301 alpine amp to it..

how do you know it is blown,

the type s series subs had horrible structure, thats why i would have either gone with the r or e (money savor)

i don't know about their subs but i love my type s speakers

type s's blow all the time, I work at circuit city so I see these come back..or at least used to since we stopped selling alpine and switched to kicker, eclipse, and clarion

well...apprantly according to these guys.....the Type S are good..but yet i also hear people bringing them back cause there blown... how do i know its blown? i push down on it and theres so much resistence its unreal....i like the type S for one major reason....the blue theme im going with ...i dont want Type R cause of the red yes im picky sometimes lol...ill go with one more Type S then if that blows this year..ill go with something different..im still waiting for them to call me with my replacement

my friends alpine type r blew too, alpine subs are not that good

AkimboStylee 04-26-2005 10:21 PM

it is all in how you take care of your system, and heat is a major factor with alpine subs

ShEaNy 04-27-2005 10:53 AM

well thats good..cause i live in winnipeg...where right now its like only plus 3 out...the guy at Advance told me they test the Type S's at minus 30 or something...

AkimboStylee 04-28-2005 09:06 PM

well also alot of heat is built up on the magnet, and can cuase the glue to disrupt which in turn is a blown speaker

ShEaNy 04-29-2005 01:08 PM

Well problem solved..i switched to the new poineer sub.... 1000 Watts 12 inch....JUST CRAZY this thing poundssss i love it allrdy..

I know you like your new subs, but if you want to with the blue theme, look into the the new L7's, plus they hit hard!!!

ShEaNy 06-24-2005 11:15 AM

who makes the L7's?
