subbie BOV.

subaru has the BOV venting some of the air BACK into the intake manifold to keep the engine leaning out when you shift
seems smart to me...why dont more aftermarket companies set up somethin like this? how hard would it be to do somethin like this?

JDMFantasy2k 02-06-2005 09:33 AM

i think they're intention is so that the 40 year old rich pricks that buy subies don't hear "whoom-psshht" every time they shift. So they vent the BOV discharge back into the intake tract so it's indescrete.

that's because Hondas dont use MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. MAF requires that system. We use MAP instead....

IALuder 02-06-2005 08:46 PM

why doesnt honda switch over? becuase the dont boost their cars?

thermal 02-06-2005 09:35 PM

dunno. boosted cars normally uses MAF anyway.

IALuder 02-06-2005 09:46 PM

could you make a honda a MAF?

thermal 02-06-2005 10:57 PM

i dont think so. The ECU will have to be reprogrammed. MAP is not that bad man. Both MAP and MAF share the same functions on the fuel curve. If you tune MAP until boost, it will be just as effective....

Sivik 02-08-2005 03:34 AM

oh no not this convo about which one is better... those engineers at Honda are no way dumb f#&*'s at all. they run the map for their reasons and it works. others run maf... just gotta work with what you get.

ebpda9 02-08-2005 09:31 AM

i thought the newer ones come with a maf sensor, especially the accords and the tl

thermal 02-10-2005 03:17 PM

^might be. Just another way to manipulate fuel curve. It really doesnt matter for us boosted Hondas anyway. Fuel management is the key to any boosted Honda... for that matter..... any boosted cars. Dyno tuning will get any boosted Honda there....

why would it matter if you lean out when you shift, you let off the gas and theres now boost or whatsoever. Its like letting off the gas and gliding to a stop. I think JDMFantasy2k is right haha anything factory has to be quiet lol
