Side Moldings

I was wondering how side moldings can be shaved and smoothed out on an Integra...or Civic.

bondo like a muthafuka...

eh thats a whole lot of thick bondo. I'd say weld in some new strips.
I've always liked the idea of just removing them and filling the holes where the clips were. Still keeps the line, but no bulge.

hmm...ok, forget that idea.
How about just painting it? I did some research and found out that you gotta take out all the door panels blah blah to get take out the moldings. Isn't it possible to just carefully cover the parts of the car close to the molding and just paint it?

sure it is - but the paint will not have formed around the trim...just over it. Therefore, the paint will be over the trim AND the door/panel collectively. That's not good.

yes you can just take your time and tape around the molding...After doing so rough up/sand prep the surface to be painted. after doing so prime it and apply your paint. In nice light layers. Don't cake on the paint or rush it.

Good luck.

Is that what you did with your car?

painting something while its installed is generally not a good idea. plastic vents, for example, will look like ASS if you dont remove them.

I resprayed the side moldings on my civic back in the day, now that i think about. I'm lucky everything was black, because when you look at it, its looks not so good. What I did was carefully taped off the edges, using two or three layers of tape, then tape up newspaper on the rest of that side to avoid overspray.

If you are wanting to do the same color (black with black, etc.) then it won't look AS bad as doing mixed colors (red car black trim, etc.)
