Why do car companies that are taking a step in the future have to make their cars look 'futuristic'. It's gross. Why don't they make nice lines on cars anymore?

I wonder how long it an hold that acceleration as the batteries lose their charge. Electric cars are really only good on paper. Nobody wants to have plug in their car every few hundred or so miles for a few hours to "fill 'er up". And does it really need to go damn near 200mph? Show me one hippie who drives an electric car now who cares about speed.
