hmm wideband a/f unit? and it's at a reasonable price.. and has many other features.

Here's my latest question, in theory i could get some dyno time at this place i know ($100/hr) get the wideband monitor and then just tune with the apexi afc and other components. Any thoughts?

That is not a bad wideband system. I prefer AEM or PLX (hardwired) tho but as long as it works.....

Theoretically that is right. Get your A/F target correct and your system will be considered tuned. However it's efficiency is still a question since the tuning device is still what's controlling the signals and fuel map. The more adjustability, the better. For example, the tuning/adjustability on an AFC is nowhere near what AEM-EMS can do. So it is more likely to achieve higher horsepower on a more tunable system.

My advice is just to make sure that your tuner is skilled on whatever tuning device you are getting ready to use....

mmm true, my friends WRX does give me a hard-on everytime i drive it.

SO anyway, i have to go the AFC route. Hondata just isn't an option right now (maybe come spring). So for now i'm going to get a vafc, missing link, and dsm injectors (and resistor box) that way i can at least get it up and running conservativley and come spring i'll go hondata...

no need to run missing link with AFC hack. goto thermal's website for setup instructions and settings. helped me.

i still say go for the hondata, so much better and safer for your motor. just gotta get it tuned right.

i can't go hondata, i don't have the money and the only place that tunes it is expensive and far away. So it'll have to wait until spring.

P28 ECU= $75

The price difference is pretty big. However you can get everything you need to run a Hondata system less than what I listed from H-T. I see it all the time under classifieds. I've seen it as low as $600 with everything.... used

But as I mentioned before, you will gain more with Hondata. Also, OBD2 tends to trip a CEL code 13 (barometric pressure) under an AFC "hack". It doesnt affect the performance of the car, however it's just annoying to be seeing that yellow light all the time.....

If you decide to do the AFC hack, I say get at least the right injectors vice a DSM 450cc. Get the RC 440 or 550 cc saturated injectors. DSM injectors doesnt act well on "hot start".... when the weather is hot or with the engine being hot. Sometimes it takes me a couple of clicks and hold the starter engaged for a few seconds to get the car going. Since you will be going Hondata later on anyway, you might as well get the right injectors. The Hondata website doesnt recommend DSM 450cc (peak & hold) anyway. RC, Lucas, Precission, or Seimen injectors will be okay.

well if i spend the extra money with the RC injectors then they're just plug and play since they're the same resistance correct, hence i wouldn't need to wire in a resistor box. I guess i'd better go that way, not to mention i know i'd have new injectors and they'd work better.

For the Rc 440s you do not need a resistor box.

i could only find one place to tune the hondata, and they wanted 700, so i scratched that idea.

I'm running an apexi vafc and i have a set of tuner toys 450cc High impedance injectors. So i'll be running the map sensor hack once i get everything installed.

Goddamn 700 WTF are they thinking.
Were they trying to charge for Install, base map, tuning and dyno time all together or what man?

my thoughts exactly. They claimed it was a flat rate and if forgot what it all included but i'm pretty sure that was without the hondata system which was rediculous.
