f20A

ok gentleman i know ive beat this horse to death with three posts about engine swaps, but...............in doing some snooping around about my fourth gen accord, ive found a tidbit that japan has left out of the US. no, never, right? anyway does anyone kniow a little about the DOHC f20A. its the SiR engine. thinking about swapping. hevilly thinking.

ebpda9 01-12-2002 02:08 PM

i don't think the F20A will have enough torque to pull a heavy ass accord like ours. The F22 barely makes it. that' why they are so slow. Do you know about any specs on the engine like hp and torque ? Please let us know.

The reason why nobody goes for the swap, is because its just not worth it.

The h22 would be so much more cost efficient. Not worth the extra $$$ for the extra 20 ponies, and lesser torque..

150hp,147tq. even for only 950 bucks, looks pretty damn good to this working class stiff!

ebpda9 01-13-2002 10:17 AM

then it doesn't sound that bad. at what rpm does it do this ?

94_AcCoRd_EX 01-13-2002 01:25 PM

I wouldn't mess with it. For 150 HP to the crank (what the newer accords make), its not even worth the $1k you might spend on it. Just save and get the H22A and you'll be much happier in the long run. With that engine, you wouldn't even have much, if any, advantage over accord ex's.

IF thats all you're willing to spend for performance, then I'd say you should do some rebuild, you can easily get that power.

Mounting the F20 must be a pain in the butt.. Custom mounts..

Smitty90acc 01-13-2002 03:58 PM

Just to cite an example, there were recently two '98-'00 F23b's (with trannies, ECU, and everything else for a complete swap) for sale in Toronto for between $400 and $600 CDN respectively (one was auto, one manual).

Deals like this do come up, so it doesn't really make sense swapping to the old 2.0 non-vtec engine unless you can get it super-cheap.

Really that cheap?? 100% legit?

synical_accord 01-13-2002 04:38 PM

here's the thing, if i wanted a prelude, i would buy a prelude. oops forgot my fiance has one. the h22a, for this instance is not needed, i am not stepping on anyones toes, i want something that not everyone has, get me? not trying to race, just have a one of a kind.........but i was under the impression that the stock mounts fit due to the f20 just being the the SiR engine, of the same model year. I've been loking around for more info but to this point i have not found much. cant even find a friggin picture of the fourth gen SiR!:o

Different, ok.. But is it really worth it?

synical_accord 01-13-2002 04:55 PM

what do you mean by worth it? here's some math.....
f20a........+20hp...........$950............=47.50 dollars/ hp
h22a.......+70hp...........$4000..........=57.14 dollars/ hp

is that what you mean by worth?

Yes. If I remember correctly, they were snapped up pretty quickly.

umm, not quiet.

FOr 4000$, the h22 package is complete.

For 950, F20, what do you have exactly (probably all the necessary hardware, without the custom fabrication of mounts)? If you say the install is inlcuded for that price, then something smells fishy for sure.

If you guys want to do a swap you should check this guy out. He's an extremely cool guy and very trustworthy. If yall were ph'ers you would remember him as sparq

http://www.redime.com/swaps/

He's changing up the site right now but a couple days ago it was all there and the complete JDM 92-95 H22A swap (motor, ecu, axles, tranny, shift linkage) was $2250

He also has access to the 220hp JDM Accord Sir-T F20B motor. I don't remember how much it was though.

Or you can get the 96-up JDM 220hp H22 for like 4000
