hood pins?

So the new car has hood pins. it was wrecked and the hood is still fuxored, kind of, and so it's setup with hood pins. right now they are just a wire and I want to put on locking ones. I bought some at pep boys and they say not for use without hood latch. the hood latch isn't there since the wreck.

Anyone running hood pins, suggest a certain type of locking pins, will the locking ones work without a latch?

*Yes i know this is extremely ricer-matic.

I just bought the mr gasket locks for my cf hood. I dont think Id trust em w/o a latch...they seem kinda loose fitting.
Any pins will do the job...no need to spend more than $20 on them.
If you need em you need em...thats not rice

Besides what I have listed below, is there any other kind, anything better that someone would suggest? I feel so easy to take advantage, hood pins and a b18 under the hood.
