what Ive got now - combo of both

my sister is all books...I think she's a moron
(I remember a few years ago she couldnt even dial collect from a pay phone.)

KwikR6 09-20-2004 11:30 PM

See that's hard to choose. I have both.

But If I need to pick ONE!? It would be street smarts. Because you can always study a ton and eventually learn. Where as you can never learn or be taugh street smarts.

I'm with Pat...I like what I've got now, a good mix of both. But I have to choose, I'd take street smarts. I've known too many people who were book smart who were complete and total social morons. They always knew the wrong thing to say in a given situation. Actually...I have an insane amount of trivia smarts. I never remember anything important but retain useless facts ad nauseam. Off the top of my head I can tell you what started WWI, the formula for calculating engine displacement, what a chimera is, and almost anything musically related...but I can't do algebra and could care less about literature.

IALuder 09-21-2004 07:50 AM

^bingo, thats the way i am.

ChrisCantSkate 09-21-2004 09:56 AM

street smarts.. but its hard to choose. i'll keep the mix i have

pdiggitydogg 09-21-2004 10:18 AM

literature? Who does care?
Same goes for the BS art history test that I have next week.

Up here at our apartment, one of our roommates is all about booksmarts. Most awkward guy ever. He says the weirdest shit at exactly the wrong time.

Street smarts are a good thing to have, because they entail basic communication skills. If you know how to communicate, and you have some book smarts, you're set.
