help?!?!?!?
yeh so my bro jus put those 2002 si rims on his car and we were comparingn them to his stock wheels and the tire height for the SI rims are higher or seeem to be...the tires seeem to be bigger heightwise or watever...my friend was sayin that this would mess up the odometer/speedomter...he said we might need to re calibrate the wheels...is this neccesary and does this really affect the car alot..please help..thanks
|
well it all depends. What size tires where on there before and im assuming 15's are on there now. if you didnt change the actual size of tires went from 15's to 16's or vice versa then you should be fine. but if you put on a bigger tire than the odometer will be affected and the speedometer would be a little too. But you recalibrate the computer with the new sizes added in not the tires. I think that for every inch bigger you change mph readings by maybe 1-3 mph....so it shouldnt be that bad
btw: how do they look on there?? |
just compare them side-by-side and see how big of a difference it really is
It can mess things up, yeah..but Im not sure how youd go about recalibrating anything |
185/65-14 is the stock tire size and the SI rims were 195/60-15 ..I mean we put them side to side and they werent tha much differnet but u caould tell there was a lil difference....so will taht affect it much...should he get it recalibrated and how much would that cost...he also said that the steering wheel feels heavier...btw they look tight other than all this crap
|
yeah...thats supposed to be 195/55/15
|
^ is it gonna be a bad thign in teh long run u think..or is it ok?
|
it'll mess up the speedo and odo so you'll just have to figure out how far its off (not a ton) and then just adjust accordingly - in your head, since i dont think you can recalibrate the stuff yourself or even for a justifyable price.
Just remember to get the right size the next time |
^ yeh damn I wish you had told me that they werent the rite size when i was postin about them..watever its cool...its my fault tho..but i'm new to this so watever...hopefully it wont be a big deal

a common problem when you get free advice... |
also one more thing is that the tires didtn have directional arrows pointin in which direction the tires should go..so we jus put them on any old way...is that alrite
|
Did you ever mention what size the tires were before?
The tread on the tires may not be directional...but post a pic of the tread if you can and we can tell you that way |
i had 2 different typed of tires on my teg before, same size on the sidewalls, and there were about a 3/8" difference between the 2 types. all 4 tires came out of stock tegs
|
^ so wait u had the same problem as me....and heressome pics of the tread.....
damn it says its too big to attach...how do i jus shwo them on here.. ihave them in an email |
anyone>????? or can i send them to u pdiggs so u can check them out...

You dont have to make different posts for multiple pictures, when theyre hosted. You can resize w/ paint -> Image -> Stretch/Skew -> Change verical and horizontal sizing until its smaller (these images are 50% smaller). - They arent directional, from what I see. If you can make out any indications of how they were mounted before try and do that...but it probably wont matter. |
yeh sorry about the pics..first time postin pics...so wait it doenst matter hwo we put them on rite...there is no correct way..cuz i dint see ne arrows on teh sidewalls
|
dont worry about it, "now you know...and knowing is 1/2 the battle"
From what I can tell, it doenst matter which way it goes on, but I am on some medication now and makes me drowsy. See what anyone else says. |
k i guess i'll wait for other ppl to look at it..thanks man
