Lowered civic 2001
 

Ok, as people say not to skimp out on the suspension because that is one of the most important parts. One dude I knew had only springs on his stock civic 2001 and it looked pretty nice. He said it was a 2" drop. I forgot what brand he told me it was but it wasnt saggin or nothing. People say get camber kit get coilovers get shocks etc. but from what the guy said, he has been driving the car lowered for about a year now with no problems. He said if he were to do something to the suspension he needed shocks thats about it.

The thing w/ different springs and stock shocks is that the ride quality is ass and the longevity of the shocks is very limited (some less than 1yr).

If you drop a car low enough you need to get a camber kit to correct the camber angle of the wheels (lowering makes a wheels go from | | to / \ That will cause uneven wear on the tires...and will piss you off because they wear out quicker then.

The right way to do suspension is Shocks, Springs (or full coilover setup combination), camber kits (if dropped enough or for rd racing). Other things can, of course, be added like upper and lower stabilizing bars and larger/addition of sway bars.
Do not get cheap on suspension.

Spend the money and be happy/safe with it and only have to do it once.

Oh, and after suspension work is done, an alignment is needed. They are not cheap and they take time to do.

is 1.5" - 2" a big drop?

its enough to use a camber kit

whats a decent drop to not have all those extras although they are needed. What do you think is the safest drop inches without buying new suspension parts?

1.5 inch, dont need camber kit, and works well. I used Eibach Pro-kit for my old 92 Civic CX. I put 30,000 miles on them before I swapped to some road racing springs. They rode very well, and prolly would have outlasted the car. U get what u pay for. Just remember that.

i got a 2 1/4" drop w/ no camber kit and the tires are A-ok. camber kits and drops are over rated, messed up toe is what'll chew up tires.

I know my camber is off right now, toe is fine, and Im seeing some uneven wear on the edges

i guess its just a luck kinda thing
