okay my civic has stumpped me

i go to start my car, and i wont start, i checked the battery and it is fine, what are some possibilities of the problem.
there is no sounds coming from anywhere, so i dont know what it could be, 2 options are the clutch, and starter, and what some ways to check to check this,

pdiggs, i need your help!!!!

does it get power? does it crank at all? how close to starting does it get?

AkimboStylee 05-22-2004 05:32 PM

it doesn't even start to crank, and i have head lighs, sterio and all internal electronics

pdiggitydogg 05-22-2004 05:48 PM

so it just sits there eh
have you checked spark/fuel?

AkimboStylee 05-22-2004 05:52 PM

well i found out the problem, i got to start, roll start, so it is the starter, but i dont know much that is going to put me back.

ChrisCantSkate 05-22-2004 05:53 PM

if its not cranking at all then its godda be something related to your starter. without ignition it will still crank, just not turn over. maybe a ground came loose or something

take a hammer and bang a bit on the starter. that should be able to fix it for a while. a starter will prolly run you around 2-300

actuallt starter was 79.99, but they tested it and it wasn't the starter, it was the nuetral saftey switch.

yeah, i have that problem too (on the escort) just be sure to push the clutch in ALL the way as hard as you can. Unless the switch is completely hosed. i can't imagine it was too much.

AkimboStylee 05-23-2004 07:43 PM

well there is a rubber grommet to protect the metal piece, that gets pushed, well that piece went bad, so i used a bolt about the same size, and no it works as if it had no problem. and the starter was the easiest thing to remove , only two bolts and they are both on top!
