The wave

Is it me or has anyone else noticed that owners of Jeep Wranglers almost always wave to eachother when driving? My friends and I refer to it as the “Jeep wave”. I know as an Eclipse owner there is no “Eclipse wave” that I know of. So is this really just a Jeep thing?

Street bike riders out here always give eachother a curtisy wassup, whether it's a two finger peace or wave, a nod, a rev, you get the idea. I think it's pretty cool, but then Jeep owners? Tards!!

DsBlu01CivEX 05-10-2004 01:22 PM

well see I think that say Civic owners don't do it because then you'd be waving/nodding/whatever at like every other car, or more. Yah I've noticed street bikes and Harley riders do it around here too. Yah it's weird though, because I expect the Wrangler owners to do it, so I always watch both drivers if I'm behind one to make sure that they're following "protocol". My sis used to have a Wrangler, and sometimes the passengers would have to handle the wave in case the driver missed the passing Jeep or was shifting or whatever....so I've done the Jeep wave on more than on occassion:paranoid:

Rob 05-10-2004 03:58 PM

If I see someone I know....I just rev at them or whatever....just depends....

pdiggitydogg 05-10-2004 04:08 PM

"its a jeep thing...you wouldnt understand"

esthirteen 05-10-2004 05:39 PM

Dad has a wrangler and he always does it along with the people that he does it too. When I drive the jeep I do it too, for some reason which I dont know why. Its a jeep thing i guess. dunno how it got started though.

IALuder 05-10-2004 09:01 PM

yes Pdig i was about to say that. i see that on almost every damn jeep here.

i just rev up at people i know or people i dont in a bad ass car.

B16DoHcCrx033003 05-10-2004 09:22 PM

MAXed Out 05-10-2004 09:52 PM

I'm sure it's not because of the car you drive Anna

In the RL I used to wave at other RL's, they'd wave back. THe first day I took the TSX out for a spin everyone was checking it out, and other TSX drivers wave once and a while.

BlackWolf 05-11-2004 01:19 PM

Street bikes, Harley's, Corvette drivers and also RV people do this including Jeeps for the comroderie (?) and "instant friendship" of it. "Hey, I got one too! Wanna talk about it? What have you done to yours?" RV owners wanna know where ya been, where ya going, do you need help/advise/maps? Most do this in Jeeps because if you're stuck needing help on the trail, they'll help you out. It's more of an unofficial club stick-together thing.

DsBlu01CivEX 05-11-2004 08:26 PM

^^^It's a jeep thing and apparently blackwolf understands!

The big things around here are of course the It's a jeep thing...., PA Jeeps (who I've been told are all a-holes), and "If you can read this turn me over".....it's obviously written upside down, but intelligent people can still read it.

Maybe you should turn them over then. That would teach them ;)

DsBlu01CivEX 05-11-2004 08:32 PM

maybe i should....I don't know if I could by myself though.....

LadySi2000 05-12-2004 03:46 PM

Now I feel really stupid. I own a Wrangler that I have "if you can read this turn me over" and I DO wave to other jeep owners. Or should I say Wrangler owners. is it really gay?

I've also noticed that the young punks with modded cars are beginning to wave at anything that's modded. Even if it's not the came type of car.

I guess there's just no hope for me.

Wren57 05-12-2004 03:58 PM

I flash my lights and wave at other Z owners...

Wren57 05-12-2004 07:14 PM

all the time;)

MAXed Out 05-12-2004 07:52 PM

I guess i can relate to this some how. When ever in a maxima sees me or i see a kid in a moded maxima or something i flash my lights or something or go at it. There is this kid at my school that has the same car and we always seem to be on the same road and all either i see him flying from behind me or he does and then time to catch up.
