oo that sucks... thats why i have my car registered in the sticks...

biker's back 04-16-2004 07:38 AM

blah, get with the times bro. This has been happening for some time in Canada.

BlackWolf 04-16-2004 08:01 AM

HAH! You oughta live in CA. You want to talk about smog laws and tests.....we've got the most strict smog laws in all the states. I cringe evertime I take my car in to renew my registration, which luckly for now is every two years....

ebpda9 04-16-2004 08:05 AM

we had that for a while here, and they are pretty difficult. one simple exhaust leak and you will fail the test. if the tank cap does not hold enough you will fail again.

Kool-Aid 04-16-2004 08:32 AM

The whole world is one big smog test...

V8killimports 04-16-2004 08:33 AM

Another reason I have a 47 year old car.. exempt.. and always will be.

Kool-Aid 04-16-2004 08:44 AM

Good show.

GT40FIED 04-16-2004 01:21 PM

Well...I'm gonna be fucked. Anyone know where I can find an H-pipe with 6 cats in it?

94_AcCoRd_EX 04-16-2004 02:33 PM

^^ LOL

pdiggitydogg 04-16-2004 03:24 PM

I know it could be worse and that everyone else is doing it (mostly). But, its one thing to always have it...and its another to drive around w/o having to deal with it and then have it shoved in your face.....again. I was happy when it disappeared.

Why are u exempted from it?

black95gs-t 04-17-2004 01:34 PM

Classic cars are exempt because emissions standards weren't the sme back then. It would be unfair to apply the same rules to those cars because when they were made technology wasn't as advanced as it is now and making those cars pass current emissions laws would cost a fortune.

Smog laws=

Asian country doesn't need the emissions standards. :)

ChrisCantSkate 04-17-2004 02:25 PM

well... at least they're thinking about our future now. oh well... guess that will force you to have a track car and a street car. could be worse, we could have to goto electric

pdiggitydogg 04-17-2004 02:30 PM

Ive already started thinking about all the things I could do to get around it (different cat, afc, etc.)
We'll all be driving hybrid/e- cars by the time we're old farts anyways...so whats the difference

Not all of us...

GT40FIED 04-18-2004 02:22 AM

Keep in mind most states have caps on how much you have to spend when you get your car registered if it fails. In Kansas I think it's something like $500 in the counties that do the testing. If you fail, spend that much, and fail again there isn't much they can do about it.

pdiggitydogg 04-18-2004 12:32 PM

Is it true that you can just buy a pass-ticket/sticker?

MAXed Out 04-18-2004 09:57 PM

I doubt u can buy one but if u have a friend that works at a emmision station im sure u can get around it. I still don't understand what's the big deal about the emmisions. Mine passed just fine.
