Ok I'm stupid - how do I get my del Sol's headlight bulbs out. Please.

I need some help here people. I cannot get those stupid bulbs out. Heck, I can't even get the light fixture out. Anyone know how?

heh, isn't it a twist lock on the harness?, usually you twist so the prongs line up then remove it from the housing, then just pull the bulb out?...that's how it is on the accord and nearly every other honda I've ever touched, course I could be off

GeneralDzur 04-08-2004 09:15 PM

No, these are different. However, I managed to yank out the frozen harness...with a few cuts....

Thanks though

the harness has tabs on it that you squeeze to get it off the bulb
then remove the rubber thing
you'll see a wire hold against the bulb - press one side toward the bulb and then downward to release it from the clip
thats it
have fun getting it back together...its a pain sometimes

GeneralDzur 04-08-2004 09:58 PM

Yeah, I ended up scraping my paint trying to get the stupid thing in. *sniff* Well, I used some touch up paint, and it worked ok. I'll probably just get the car re-painted someday. But - I did get in the Hyper-White (bluish) bulbs, plus the hyper-white corner bulbs, plus the clear-corner lenses, so it's pretty cool looking w/ the green aux lights.

i hope the wattage isnt over 85
otherwise you will kill the harness

and anything other than amber/yellow/orange corners is illegal

Digital 04-08-2004 10:52 PM

I've been driving around with hyperwhite and have gotten pulled over before for no front license plate but not once warned about not having amber/orange in my clear corners! It must not been so obvious since everything matches.

IALuder 04-09-2004 12:34 PM

you can have amber and orange. that not illegal.

color that are illegal: blue, red, clear, and pink.

pdiggitydogg 04-09-2004 12:36 PM

if you havent gotten a fix-it-ticket yet, concider yourself lucky.
eventually, it will happen

KwikR6 04-09-2004 12:44 PM

So tru!

It shouldn't be that hard.....from what I remember...slide the rubber piece back..undo a clip or two..and it should pull straight out??

WHooops..basically what Pdiggs said.

in MI you get fix it tickets for DOT legal parts....that's what cracks me up

In illinois you are allowed to have yellow/clear in the corner/turn lights on the front end, blue is illegal, hyperwhite which looks blue is illegal, they are even beginning to crack down on aftermarket HID systems. I have hella Yellow Stars and just have the Kryton Bulbs with my clear corners and clear bulbs in my front turn signals, i have burned one headlight harness(don't say it doesn't apply because they use the same H4 bulb that honda uses) and that was only because the bulb was burning out the filament broke and shorted to the reflector overheating the harness...yay!! it's nice working for honda and having all those repair parts at your disposal :)

pdiggitydogg 04-09-2004 01:59 PM

Hell...you get pulled over in Mi for HONDA parts....

Im glad the popo's are starting to pull people over for illegal hid...I hate it and cant wait until its phased out. It NEVER should have been put into suv's...EVER. Id love to find the people who thought that was a good idea so I could kick them square in the balls and then shove hids into their eyes

GeneralDzur 04-09-2004 05:43 PM

Um, just so I can avoid a hating here...I'm not putting in HID's...just pure white bulbs...nothing special.

:paranoid:
