Suspension-What Works Well
Hey guys I'm in the market for a coilover system and was wondering what suggestions you may have. I'm Looking to drop about 2"-2 1/2". I'm not looking for anything overly stiff, just enough. Also I'm looking to spend between $900-$1200 (CDN) Any advice you guys might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

i heard ground controls and koni yellows work good.

Yep what he said. Don't settle for less. If your budget was more, I'd suggest TEIN. www.styledright.com (<- fellow HSTuners member) can hook you up with both. |
well his price would be 600 USD and i don't know a good setp that will go for that price

you cant get a good...or even a decent coilover system for that much.
Save a little longer and then buy. I also recommend koni yellows and ground controls (though thats not what i have) Dont chince out and buy something cheap. Its suspension and in my opinion more important than anything else. |
i'm thinking about switching over to koni's and GC sometime soon, i think my car is too low.
|
what are you riding on now?
|
i'll give you a hint, its in my sig ;)

I hear what your saying, I chinced out on my last car, I got used to it, but it took a while. The springs were universal from 88-00, pretty stiff. I also had the koni reds which only had two settings stiff and stiffer. The ground control springs are made by eibach right, and the spring rates are specific to each application right. For me 96-00.

I never had problems with my KYB-AGX and Ground Control combo. I had for 4 years now and dropped on 16's with no wheel gap.
I say save up and get Tein SS or H&R cups........ |
i have the ground control kony sport combo on my car and i love it to death. the only downside of the ground control is that the front springs allow for about 2.5" of suspension travel before you get coil bind and that is not really that pleasant, but overall i love the setup. yeah, ground control uses eibach ers springs and the spring rates used are very closed to perfect  my take on that setup ? worth every penny

Are you able to adjust the firmness of the shocks from the engine bay and trunk, or does the car have to be raised. Also I'm not sure what you meant by coil bind. Thanx
|
yellows are adjustable from the bay and the trunk via the top screws
|
coil bind is when 2 coils of the spring are touching themselves.
|
I like they idea of easily adjusting the shocks, I'll call tomorrow and get a price. Thanx again guys.

Ive been doing some research on the web about the ground crontrols, and some people are saying that they make alot of noise, even after the break in period. Also that they don't stay seated properly. Has anyone had any experience with these problems.
|
not me. they seem just fine after 2 years of having them
