scratch Q's
last winter my mom and dad went to PA. in the winter.it was snowing and crap up there, so the first nice day my dad took the car to the car wash. well with all the rock-salt on the road some got on the brush he was using, and yea.. scratched the car up. its not down to metal.. it just scratched the clear-coat up a bit..
well she asked me to try to fix it.. so here is my question: what would be the best wax to use on it? something that would take care of the scratches and give the car the "wet" look.. i need something thats not going to just wash off the next time it rains.. or the next wash. thanks.. :) |
3M Scratch and swirl remover, but if the scratch is too deep then it won't work. I wet sanded some of the scratches on my car and then polished it. that took care of the scratches really good, and the clear coat looks really deep too, with no wax on it:yes:

Try 3M first like mentioned above :D
Then yes you'd have to wet sand polish, and buff.. also I am a BIG fan of Eagle One Wet Look. Very nice polish/wax that everyone should look into. I use it on my boat (fiberglass and solid red) and it turns out awesome. Gets those nasty exhaust stains of the back of it too. Great product that I recommend to all of you. |
I use Mequiar Gold wax and its awesome, my painted is faded to all hell but when I wax her up it's got that brand new paint look. maybe I'll check out this eagle one stuff too, but not until I run out of this stuff.
I'm new to this kinda stuff (kinda) but wouldn't wetsanding it remove clearcoat, we wetsanded my friends car not to long ago seemed to do just that |
jeez wet sanding.. uhhaaa i gonna need like 2000 grit paper for that.. i think ima just buff the crap out of it first, then see what happens.. oo is the eagle one wet look, a spray on wipe off stuff?
thanks for the info guys....:) |
