best intake ?

ok im getting ready to start upgrading the 6 parts are FINALY coming out for it. ;) and i was wondering in your experiences what is the best brand to use i could use some help on this one there are about a million differnt brands out there and i know there is a big difference between them

pdiggitydogg 03-06-2004 06:47 PM

comptech icebox or mugen intake imho
Both provide ducting for colder air without placing the filter within the fenderwell and therefore no risk of hydrolock as with aem, injen, and the like

There has gotta be a way to tell the difference between "intake" as most people call it also know as CAI, and the true intake manifold. What is the actual name for your CAI? Just CAI?

C's 94 InTeGrA 03-07-2004 11:22 AM

yes CAI is for the cold air intake. Just regular intake is what they call a short ram intake

Fatal070 03-07-2004 12:26 PM

now i know your supposted to use a heat shield to get the best effect but I have seen a few cardon fiber ones out there that say they get twice the results of the metal tubes do you think its worth the extra hundred bucks

MAXed Out 03-07-2004 02:46 PM

I had a AEM.

ebpda9 03-07-2004 04:21 PM

aem hands down. i dunno, i never seen the comptech icebox, but from their pics they look like a regular air box. i think the hydrolock risk on them is higher than a regular cai

pdiggitydogg 03-07-2004 04:25 PM

the ice box is just a sri that has extra parts that encase the filter element and then place ducting down into the fender area.

the risk of hydrolock is way way way way low...the only way it'd happen is if you took your car for a swim or you had ultra-mega-vacuum suction

KwikR6 03-07-2004 04:53 PM

I heard Injen intakes were pretty good.
AEM is proven to be decent.
Try'em all!

EX1994 03-07-2004 05:24 PM

yeah the AEM V2 is working really nice for me....amazing sound

nope. Thats is the Intake manifold that they make for our cars. Along with shunk2. Thats wat our intakes hook onto. A Regular short ram is only the pipe and the filter is inside the engine bay. When you have a CAI the piping takes the filter to inside the fender well or at the bottom of the car out of the engine bay to catch cooler air

PeterV1228 03-07-2004 07:55 PM

don't spend alot cuz it won't do much of anything in terms of power-gains anway. Just get the best-sounding/looking one.

C's 94 InTeGrA 03-07-2004 10:02 PM

so ur saying a intake wont do nothin for u?? i think ur a little wrong. They actually work. They help gas milege if thats an issue for people. And they do put out decent gains expecially the V2 by AEM. I have seen some dnyo graphs they put out and they did some good gains on the newer civics.
