What all is required to put a ps2 in a car??? Right now i have a half decent cd player but want a indash dvd that i oculd hook a ps2 up to. im never at home always in my car so it works out perfect for me. thanks in advance my peeps

this is how i was thinking of putting it. Monitor of course in stock spot changer in the armrest and the ps2 in my glove box. What do you guys think about that??? what else would i need besides wire and what have you???

Sounds good to me.

Another interesting place to mount tge PS2, is on the passenger side, at the end of the leg area.. With a Plexi door on top, it looks very nice. Just suggestion... The Dash is as good, probably a little more practical.


You'll need some means of converting your power for the PS2.

Another thing..

The PS2 in car installs.. Always the same problem.. Skipping.

So in your install think of a way to minimize the shocks to the unit.

what is the best way to minimize shock im sure i could fabricte somthing but just want some suggestions.

Custom.. I dunno if there in any other way.

Here's what my friend has.

Under the base support for the PS2, he has like 2 very soft springs (for stability, 1 on right half -- other on left) and on each end he has a gel/jello type of pad/cushion. The pad has to the major part of the dampening, so that gives you an idea of how soft the springs need to be.

well you need a power inverter. You can get one for like $30 that will make somewhere in the 50-60W. I don't think a ps2 can burn more than that.

as far as shock proofing, most high end hom,e stereo stores stock sorbothane in a number of styles, some even have it in sheets. That would be my suggestion

I know some people who tried that.. It seemed very effective, but on the big bumps it was worth very much.

or you could go the cheapest route and avoid all bumps. ;)

i was thinking about removing the passenger side airbag and custom fitting a ps2 into there, or at least some sort of tv and then possibly the ps2 in the glovebox or having a custom center console made with an armrest sort of thing for the ps2 to go into with the ports coming out the front for the controllers. few more ideas for my setup as well......but those will be done in due time :cool:

kewl i have a few questions for then what did he use to reduce shock and if i get a pinoeer or somthing of the like will i have to get a control unit also??

It's mainly for show as you can see, and he can play while he's parked. If a cop see's that someone is playing PS2 on a monitor on the front dash you WILL get a ticket, i forget the exact law but it's something with distraction/obscruction. Lots of people got it last year at local blvd. No problem having tv's in the back though.

Brandon, you're right about not really playing while driving.

But I think the reason for the shock proofing was to save the PS2's opticals.. They are very sensitive.

Brandon, I so fully dig the car its pathetic, but one thing I am accutely surprised by is the fact that the bodykit isn't moulded...hmmmm, big mistake IMO only because it makes it seem like an afterthought, but thats just my opinion, I could be wrong
