Looking for a new car
 

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a new car. I've asked around at a few different forums, and I wanted to see what the Honda/Acura model line had to offer me.

Here's what I need:
- Winter Car: While the 951 does fine in the snow, I hate putting it through all the salt. Rust has never been a problem (the body won't rust), but I still hate putting it through all the salt.

- Utility car: When I have the 951 down for work, I want something I can use as a parts runner (the 914 has no trunk).

Price constraints:
Preference will be given to a cheeper car, but consider price no issue.

If you are just looking for a beater type vehicle ou could pick up like a 90-93 integra LS or like a 92-95 HB/Coupe. With any of these honda/acuras you could have the ability for driving in the snow,as FWD works well and also have room in each for running around and place things in the ride and also still have roomto be comfortable and drive..

YEah i agree with 4drmadness i would get a 2nd gen teg or a 92-95 civ. If u are lookin for a 90-93 teg i have one for sale. PM for more info and pics if u are interested.

I wouldn't go honda if I were you... You pay a premium for nothing essentially...

Get a nissan sentra or altima or other reliable japanese car...

Honda is no better than any other company if you're just looking for a reliable good car...

Oh and if you need any parts for that 951 feel free to ask... I work for a company that's parting a bunch of them out.

I'd personally like to stay away from FWD. Nothing bothers me more than understeer when it comes to handling.

I like the idea of a hatchback though....

Am I missing something?

well sorry but all honda and acura are FWD. unless you want a NSX.

hmm the understter problem can be corrected with a rear sway bar. mine oversteers more than a rwd with the konis and ground controls and a rear sway bar :yes:

well sorry to burst your bubble, as far as the reliability goes i agree with you, but fun wise the hondas will beat any nissans, toyotas, isuzus, suzukis in their price range. :yes:

If you want a rwd winter beater I would go with an SUV. Maybe like an older ford exploder (91-94)or a blazer or something. They seem to go a bit better in the snow than any rwd car I might suggest. The older ones you can keep in 2wd or in the event of getting stuck the 4wd is real helpful.

You're right, but you still will have understeer under power.

I'm thinking right now I'll either go with like an old Jeep Cherokee (I love the looks), or maybe a Subaru Forrester (yeah I know, AWD, but it'll do). Just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some old jem in the honda lineup. I knew that all the new ones (minus the NSX/S2000) were FWD, but I figured they may have some odd car that they made 20 years ago that might work.

If i were you i would go with a AWD car for the winter beater. Get an older subie. Get the 2.5 rs, im pretty sure they are AWD. It would suit you good. They are 4 door so it would also be good for the storage that you need. Either that or go with the AWD laser, talon, or eclipse. Just a few choices.

Wow, I must've missed that one....got any info on this truck? I'm not a fan of pickup trucks (what good is an open bed?), but I guess you could put a cap on it.

My sentra was more fun than my civic and it cost less NEW than my civic cost used.

Also as far as the poster goes...

I'll take understeer under power over NO STEER ALL THE TIME with a cherokee...

Those are the most spin/rollover prone cars on the road...

I'd SERIOUSLY recomend staying away from those.

Early 90s subaru. Tough as nails, cheap as crap, and get through dam near anything.
