what if my block is cracked
im not sure what that means , does that mean my motor is done???? god i hope not ;(
Yes your motor is toast. Unrepairable damage:no:
could i get a new block??
you need a new motor. Your block probably cracked because the engine changed temp. to quickly. That can mess up other things and it all should be replaced.
damn! did that engine come with any kind of warranty?
i bought it in July but i ddint have my car car was done in oct ;(
holy shit that could be the absolute worst luck dude.......if it is cracked call up where you got it and raise hell
not your fault that it didnt go in until recently |
cracked blocked=**** MAJORLY. been there.
there are many reasons why a motor can crack. such as driving way to hard, blown headgasket and driving with it, driving a cold engine, fried piston rings which leads to blown headgasket...... either way you have to get a new motor completely. sure you could by a block, but i suggest just buying a new motor. |
nothing has leaked i havn't goten a chance to take her apart gonna do it this week sometime
im have the worste luck lately life just shiting one me real bad :grumpy: , i hope this block isnt ****ed i really do u guys dont understand i have not had my car one the road 4 mounths out of 2003 i swear to god its been a bad year;( |
what makes you think the block is cracked anyway?
a simple test to see if you have a blown head gasket is to see if theres oil in your antifreeze, we do it all the time in my autotech class. Or do a dry compression test. Blown Gasket or cracked block will make compression drop majorly.....
^true. also blown headgasket push the antifreeze out around the radior cap.
If the block is cracked the symptoms are a lot like a blown gasket, excepta compression test will usually reveal one cylinder way low (this can happen with a gasket too, but not usually). You'll sometimes find coolant in the oil if the crack is near a water jacket or a good sized split. Trust me...it's generally not a pretty sight. The engine that came with my car (a stock 302) was on it's last leg and after a few small mods and some hard charging, I literally ventilated the block when one of the rods decided it didn't like the way I was treating it (turned out it was a shoddy rebuild done years ago that the guy who owned it before me, the second owner, didn't know about). A huge mess of oil and coolant. Once a block is cracked, even a small crack, it needs to be replaced as many others have pointed out. You still haven't mentioned what makes you think your block is shot.
