AOL passwords
Does anyone know how I could go about getting a friends aol password? I have strong suspicions that I'd like to confirm. Email me at wren57@aol.com or IM me at clearbeerdog if you have a way of doing it. Thanks.

well my friend got in mine and was going to have it changed to his email address so he could get my password but i caught him and canceled it.

a little social engineering and you should be able to get it no problem. email aol claiming you are your friend, make it believable, and they might just send it to you. I know it worked for geocities.
I know long ago there were plenty of AOL password recovery tools and cracks and what not. I havent been with it lately, but you might check around. |
my friend recently had his screen name hacked... so i know its possible to obtain a password without them knowing

Yeah its possible. Do some searching
I'd have to kill someone for deleting my buddy list. I have about 100 names in there. |
I've done a lot of work with the new AOL protocol (OSCAR).
Here's how login/authenication is handled with OSCAR: Client sends connection request --Server replies with a key (something like "19234820") Client does an MD5 has on the following string: Key + Password + "AOL Instant Messenger (SM)" --Server replies with needed connection information Anyways, long story short..... If you can use a packet sniffer to grab the data returned to the server, you can try a reverse-MD5 hash (good luck), and then just remove the key and "AOL Instant Messenger (SM)" string from it, and you'll have the password. |
bump... need some concrete ideas here... thanks. :)

put a key logger on his computer

Damnit Highlander...are you hacking your ex's AOL account? If so...I applaude you. Hehe. Here's what I'd usually do. If you try to go into their email account it'll prompt you for address and password. If you know enough about them you can usually hit the "forgot my password" link and answer whatever question they've setup for a forgotten password. Sometimes this doesn't work as some plases just route the password to an alternate email address. That or figure out the password to another one of their accounts as most people use the same password for most of their stuff. If all else fails you could do as Chris suggested and install a key logger...but you usually have to be at their computer to do so. I know there's a way to gain remote access to someone's PC as well...the way IT guys and tech support does...but I know dick about networking and the sort.
