Ultimate cd collection
If you could only pick 5 of your favorite cds to be in your "ultimate" cd collection, what 5 would make your list?
After some good thought (it's hard), I think I've finally narrowed it down. In no particular order they are..... 1. Madonna: The Immaculate Collection 2. Jamiroquai: A Funk Odyssey 3. Justin Timberlake: Justified 4. Linkin Park: Hybrid Theory 5. Millennium Hip-Hop Party |
^If I had to listen to ANY of your top 5 for more than 10 secs... people would have to die...
No offense... I don't know what mine would be.... 1. Pink Floyd "Meddle" 2. Bad Religion "No Control" 3. Tools 2nd album 4. Pink Floyd "Final Cut" 5. Maybe NIN "Downward Spiral" or Ministry's "In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing up... Live." However If ALL music were to disappear besides ONE band... it'd no doubt be Pink Floyd... I'd be perfectly content with ALL other music just disappearing. |
Pretty Hate Machine--Nine Inch Nails
Empire--Queensryche Black--Metallica Doggy Style--Snoop Dogg Van Halen-- Van Halen |
These are in no particular order and from my collection...I'd have more if I could add cds from friends collections
1. Usher: 8701 2. 112: Part III 3. Lit: A Place in the Sun 4. either Craig David cd 5. Ludacris (the one with What's Your Fantasy on it...I can't think of the name of the album) My picks are based on the fact that I can listen to all of those cds the entire way through and not get sick of them. There are other cds that I really like, but I skip songs or get tired of hearing them. I never get sick of those cds i listed above. |
abba- dancing queen
any sugar ray song back street boys.. ALL would be FABULOUSsssss!!!! elton john- danel..    annnnnnnny whoooo.... any metallica.. except the new crap... any pac 3-6 mofia korn ozzy..... there is a bunch more.. but she said only 5   |
any pac cd...
|
hmmmm hard question
in no particular order 1.Rancid - and out come the wolves 2. Dropkick Murphys- Blackout 3. Operation ivy - s/t 4. Anti-Flag- New kind of army 5. any outkast cd |
Man...you two girls would drive me up a f@ckin wall. Since I find it impossible to choose only 5, I'm picking 5 primaries and 5 alternates
Primaries: Bad Religion "All Ages" Onelinedrawing "Visitor" Far "Tin Cans With Strings To You" Far "Water & Solutions" Phunk Junkeez "Injected" Alternates: Story Of The Year "Page Avenue" Taking Back Sunday "Tell All Your Friends" Alkaline Trio "Good Mourning" RUN DMC "Raising Hell" Shootyz Groove "Jammin In Viscious Environments" Edit: I should also add that if you can pick 5 CDs to keep forever and only 5 CDs then you don't listen to enough music. That's like people who can categorically say they have 1 favorite movie. They obviously haven't seen enough movies. Now...I listed 10 and that took me about 15 minutes to pick out of a CD collection of about 750 CDs. Pick 5? Pshhhh. |
heh, i'd pick any scooter cd that i have (wait that's 5 already) ;)
|
Here's my quick Top 5, off the top of my head:
Bob Marley: Exodus Poison the Well: Opposite of December Sublime: 40oz To Freedom Deftones: Around the Fur Dr. Dre: The Chronic 2001 |

That's what we're here for ;) :bandit: I don't know that it's easy for any of us on here to pick only 5 cds. I have a ton of other cds that i would have listed if I could have....but I picked the 5 that aren't burnt cds that I listen to all the time. I like happy dance-y r&b type music....it's what keeps me sane. I'm sorry that you don't like our choices, but that's what makes us different and the world a fun place to be in.:) |
Notorious BIG - Life After Death
Mos Def - Black on Both Sides Final Fantasy VII Soundtrack (THATS RIGHT...FINAL FANTASY...WHAT?!) Outkast - Speakerboxx/Love Below St Lunatics - Free City then...if I could sneak one more in...Eminem - The Eminem Show |
Quote:
This was my number 6....although I like Speakerboxx more than I like The Love Below. So I'd take Speakerboxx and their CD that has BOB and Miss Jackson on it in the place of Love Below. |
I would go with:
1. Type O Negative "World Coming Down" 2. Vast "Music for People" 3. Jimmie's Chicken Shack "Pushing the Salmonela Envelope" 4. Monster Magnet "Powertrip" 5. Alice In Chains "Greatest Hits" That is very hard to narrow it down to five, I would have to name a couple notables like STP's "Purple", Nirvana's "Nevermind", Reveille's "Bleed the Sky" Rage's "Evil Empire", Flogging Molly 'Swagger". Damn there are a lot of awesome albumns. Very hard to narrow it down to five. |
WHAT? Love below is da pimpinest cd of the two! WAY better than stankonia IMO..and I liked that too...

I could do without all the other selections you listed, but "Rock 'n Roll" ownz me. Long live Mos Def. |

Whoa whoa whoa...a chick who likes cars, Anti Flag, Op Ivy, and AFI. Where do I sign up. I knew there was a reason you were stalking me earlier. hehe. ;) |
Quote:
Sorry, it's what I like....that's why it's my top 5 and not yours.....but no offense taken :) Quote:
Yeah, well can't please everyone. |
Quote:
is that the new one? i havnt herd it yet |
Quote:
It's actually a comp. Covers everything from their early shit up to right around stranger Than Fiction. The new one is called "The Process Of Belief" and it's fan-f@cking-tastic (I liked Greg Graffin...but I gotta admit getting Mr. Brett back made all the difference)...but I' still take the comp cuz it's like best of all worlds. |
i'll have to check that out. i love bad religion... deffinitally one of my fav bands even though i havnt been keeping up with them too much. im supprised anti-flag didnt get a top CD from me, but i picked the 5 CDs that no matter what i can ALWAYS listen to
|
Yeah...I heavily debated putting Punk In Drublic on my list...that CD owns me as well.
|
I could never pick 5. But since we are talking about music I would like to ask if anyone has heard the new Johnny Cash that he finished right before he died? Got a lot of covers on it. One of them is NIN-Hurt.
Crazy...it's pretty damn good actually. |
Boooo. Johnny Cash is (was...R.I.P) a genius but you gotta listen to the older stuff before he got married to June Carter. Live at Folsom Prison is pure genius as is Live at San Quentin. If you want a non-live album that's pure greatness, get the "Murder" album. All of his great stuff...none of his gospel singing or shite like that. The new one's good (imagine...a country singer in his 70's covering Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus")...but the old stuff is soooooo much better.
|
i had to do a top ten... 5 dosnt do it
6. anti-flag - underground network 7. rancid - out come the wolves 8. lagwagon - hoss 9. dropkick muphys - live on st. pattys day 10. zoinks! - panorama(i dunno why... but i love this CD) |
Quote:
lol i'll take that as a compliment;) All ages isnt that new is it? and chris how to clean everything is my favorite propaghandi and punk in drublic my fav. nofx awesome cds:cool: |
Quote:
You people call yourselves Bad Religion fans. Bah! As I explained, the new one is "The process Of Belief"...also an amazing album. "All Ages" is a comp from all their stuff up to Stranger Than Fiction. It's been out for a few years at least. How To Clean Everything is wicked cool too...except they haven't played "ska sucks" live for years. |
i can't believe not one single person has said sing the sorrow...
anyway, mine would be 1. lostprophets - fake sound of progress 2. afi - sing the sorrow 3. incubus - s.c.i.e.n.c.e. 4. brand new - deja entendu 5. prob some radiohead album or something of that nature |
Quote:
theres a reason i didnt mention sing the sorrow:o lol.... j/k its not bad... but not THAT good IMO |
Quote:
Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja = Brand New is great stuff too...but I liked Your Favorite Weapon better. |
what's a CD? i only purchase blank ones lol
chris |
ahh sing the sorrow thats gone too far. I like old skool AFI i think they have slowly transformed into something else, just look at davey he used to be a totaly normal looking guy now he looks like a woman. And yeah i only asked about all ages because i was sure that it was a bit older but some people werent i was double checking.
I like lost prophets |
lostprohpets are my fav band of all time. their new cd is comin out on feb 24, for those of you who don't know.
and about sing the sorrow, yea they changed into something else, but i love what they changed into. i like old school AFI too; i love black sails in the sunset. |
Re: Ultimate cd collection
Quote:
I LOVE Millennium Hip Hop Party...but they wouldn't be my top 5 Hmmm.... Nickelback..the long road or whatever it's called 3 doors down...new one Millenium Soul Party Mowtown Xmas...(Stevie Wonder...hey, it's got sentimental value, okay?) Faith Hill...Breathe |
Re: Re: Ultimate cd collection
Geez, I must live under a rock or something! I haven't heard of half the artists and songs you guys have listed. Although, most of it's not really my type of music.
Quote:
Glad I'm not the only one! I absolutely love old school hip-hop and that cd has a good collection of the songs I like....I mean who doesn't love Baby Got Back?! ;) |
who's AFI?
I'm also WAY WAY behind on Bad Religion... The last album I got was recipe for hate... I didn't really even like that one too much till after 9/11 (listen to it now and it's pretty bugged out...)... I gotta get some of there newer stuff... Oh and I wanna put on Murphy's Law: Back with a Bong... I love the music but the band/scene, half sucks. |
