experiences with?
 

what experences have people had with Borla, and Monza exhausts. Also exhausts that used a Bullet muffler. the reason I ask is that I want more performance without too much sound increase. also what is the best size pipeing to use. I know that there are alot that will say go with something else but Im not really into the kind of exhaust that you can hear from 1-3 blocks away (figuratively and literally speaking) and Im also going for a semi-sleeper setup. for those who might say anything I did do a search but didn't really find what I was looking for

thermal is pretty quiet, even the classic version. yyou can hear a nice low hummmmm when you are next to the car.as far as i know he bomb style mufflers are the freaking loud ones, and with the fart sound.

thanks I'll keep that in mind when the time comes that I change my exhaust. the sound that Im looking for is preferably not too much louder that of a short ram under a bridge when you step on it when normaly driving around. Im asking now for when I go to do it

If you don't want loud DO NOT get a straight through muffler... you want an oval style baffled muffler... AND a resonator...

I thought thermals where the canister style mufflers with NO resonator... and the straight pipes...

The quitest exhaust will be:

shaped like the stock ones (not the long straight tubes like N1 etc)

Have a GOOD sized resonator... not a little glass-pack looking thing.

have an OVAL muffler... that is baffled... the more the quiter...

Canister style mufflers will get louder and louder the smaller they are... the straighter the piping the louder it will be... the smaller the resonator the louder it will be.

I have a brosal brospeed catback now... it's not loud at all compared to most aftermarket exhausts... but it's louder than stock for sure.

I'm PRETTY sure you could get a stock acura integra exhaust.. it'd flow a little better than your stocker and probobly be a little louder but not much.

Proboboly not too many gains there though (although no exhaust is really going to give you serious gains... and if it does it'll be one of those fartcans with straight piping.)

my thermal is the ovela type and kinda looks straigh thru, but at idle is not louder than a stoker, and under under 5k rpms i can still hear my intake, and my engine

I don't mind it being louder then stock and I would like it to be fairly unrestrected but I don't want it to be overly noticable. Im kinda looking for were if you look at my car it looks like its in progress like eventually a body kit, etc when really its not if that makes any sense

yeah it makes sense. thermal also looks like almost stock, but with 3" tips

what is the best size piping to go with right now I don't plan on turbo/sc but I see it as a possibility in the future but not for a while. also as far as headers whats the +/- of 2 piece vs 1 piece

well, you are gonna want to use 2 and 1/4 inch piping.
I say get an exhaust system that is already designed for your car - truest me, i know so many people who wish they had not gotten custom piping and a muffler.
The quietist catback exhaust IMO is the Apexi WS - it sounds good, and is not too loud.

personally, i love my thermal classic system and wouldnt trade it for anything - great sound, escpecially w/the new motor.

I would like to try a cheaper exhaust route...maybe for a few days or so...
Id like to try an es oval w/ resonator @ 2.25 piping.....id also paint it flat black :bandit:

Then id get to winter and see the salted roads eating away at the pipes...stainless steal thermal would be back on then for sure

not necessarily true...the greddy EVOs have a straight-through muffler design and its not much louder than thermal exhausts....

Most performance exhausts use a straight through muffler. - most 50 state legal ones use a straight through muffler and are under the 90db limit

Right... being at 90db isn't being quite... car alarms are 120db...

ANY oval muffler will be quiter than the quitest canister style.


P.S. I'm getting a dynomax tomorrow... I'll let everyone know how it sounds... GOD I hope it's not a fart can... I've heard sound bite's of it on a b16 it wasn't tooo offensive...
