Computer Engineering is good for me. The #1 is the most important for math! Also, can go to travel a lot and a bigger salary.

I own my own shop and work on cars all day ;) Well, not all day yet. We are just getting started so me and my husband still work our regular jobs, and open our shop from 4:00 til whenever, and Sat and Sun. It's hard, but we want to be sure we can make it before we jump into that first. It's a lot harder than you think to open a fully operational small business. We have a shop with 2 bays, a lift, a nice showroom, a dyno, and a guy who builds custom rollcages and metal fabrications next to us. We are really busy all the time, so I'll soon quit my other job and just tear into motors and trannys all day. My other job is boring. I work for an engineering company. They do every road around here, lots of state projects, all the casinos, things like that. I'm in charge of the big blueprint copies, and the specs that go with em. In other words, I sit here on the computer, think about cars, and get paid for it.

You run your own bakery perhaps?

I'm thinking of trying to open a bakery or bakery/cafe place sometime.....I can't really say I love what I do right now.

PoleMan14 et. al.:

If you don't like CompE in school, chances are you'll hate it in the "real world." Just a hunch, but everybody's different so take it with a grain or two of salt.

If you have interest in getting into any kind of processor design or anything like that (using CompE or EE), study logic and lots of programming.....either be a logic designer and move into architecture, or be a tool developer. The current trend for actual circuit work is moving to be more and more tools-based.

Oh, and learn Hindi and Mandarin, cuz the jobs are moving to India and China in about a decade. ;)

If you really wanna put a CompE or EE degree to good use and make the real big bucks, get your bachelors and work for a few years and study IP Law on the side, then get into IP Law. There's a good demand for IP lawyers who actually have a basic understanding of the ideas that are being patented....makes things go much smoother.

I shoulda done ME.
