Cold water + hot engine = stress on the metal and possible cracking. Don't you cover your electronics too? |
I don't drive to tx and back and then fly to a carwash for a spray. lol
and yes-covered. |
Foaming degreaser and water while the engine is cold.
|
Careful with the brake cleaner, stuff is flamable and you need to watch out near hot-parts.
I lost my stoneshield (long story) so every rain, the engine bay just gets trashjed again. But I know a few detailing places do have steam-cleaners that work very well. -Ducky |
i just hose the engine down with water. i am not even covering it or anything like that. works fine every time
|
I trashed my alternator that way though. Well, it got some sand in it and I just rinsed it with walter. Now it whistles and whines incredibly loud.

I strongly recommend to place a plastic bag on your aftermarket air filter. You do not want water to enter the cylinders. I agree with the "cold" engine wash although I'm not all into covering the wiring. I advise a non-pressurized wash tho. If you are in a car wash, do not place that water nozzle on pressure. Keep it on low velocity or high volume.

yea if its up too high it can blow lil rubber hoses off.. or blow holes in them.. or diconect something...
|
hey can someone post pics of an engine compartment and circle the0 things that need covered, then maybe one of the mods will sticky it in the apppropriate place. many people ask this question.
|
i would but i dont know how.....
