What is he doing?!
In rally racing, what is the guy sitting next to the driver saying/doing, and what do they call him? IM really starting to get into it and I can't figure that guy out.
ps Markko Martin rocks. |
he's the navigator (not sure if thats the actual name)
he reads the map/course to the driver like where turns are, how strong they are, where water/ice are, hills (inclines and drops), etc |
yea also state what type of road such as gravel, sand, or pavement.
|
isn't he called the co-pilot ?
|
It depends, I have heard them called co-drivers.
It's pretty interesting because in some cases, only one person from each team gets to drive the coarse before the actual timed run. I know for Allister McRae, his father is the one. He takes notes on the turns, road hazards, track conditions, etc and it's the co-driver that has to make sure Allister makes the right turns. -Ducky |
i like watching the co-drivers(or whatever its called)faces right before they go off the road. they always looked scared shitless, you'd think they'd get used to it.

they are called the navigator

In WRC, they are referred to as Co-Drivers. And since CivicKid referred to Markko Martin, he is talking about WRC. So, I'm right and you're wrong :D -Ducky |

Well I don't know anything about this, but unless he TOUCHES the controls he would technically be the navigator. But they call if whatever they call it be it inaccurate or not. |
