01' Tan Civic + body kit = yes/no
 

I got a 2001 cvic off my parents, for an awesome price. My problem is it's that shoreline sandy mist colour (whatever honda calls it) I call it matalic tan. The colour of it is my only problem, I love everything else. Do you guys think a body kit will look good with that colour? I got these kits in mind.

im not quite sure what the tan color is but i think i know, The kit its cool i dunno about those big huge fog lights on the second one:o But you could always paint too if it didnt look right.

I like the first kit. I think the Skyline facia is bad a$$. I cant think of what metallic tan looks like. Are you talking about the gold or champagne color?

the first one looks sweet, i've never really been a fan of the evo stuff on civics... looks funny imo. if you really want a new paint job, you could always drive out to somewhere where it's been known to hail and park there :D i might be able to get a new paint job because of some hail damage :yes:

Yeah it's the champagne colour, I guess I'll have to try it and find out. I like the hail idea good one. I'll be paying more attention to the weather reports. With the evo kit the big fog lights if you scroll down the page they're not on the kit. I'll find out but it seems like they're removable. I'm not to crazy about them either, I like the big back side to it though.

they're only going to paint the outside of the car so if you change the color the outside is gonna be different from the inside and under the hood and crap.

if you didnt care about that, it'd be easier just to key your car and act like someone vandalized it while your were sleeping.

Those kits are fiberglass?

The color is probably titanum and I'd say go for the first kit one way to check the color is go to tirerack.com since you can choose your car and color

my opinion: the first kit is alot more aggressive if you are going for that look. BUT the second one is more clean. the fog lights look great on there. it looks like it was meant to be there. non-tacky so to speak. so it really depends on your own personal style. once you figure that out, you can make a better decision about what you want than any of us...

the 1st "octane" kit looks the best that was one of my choices for a kit

Painting that car is the last resort, too much especially when there isn't even a scratch on the car. I prefer to put that money under the hood. Thanks for the ideas though.

Well if you plan on spending money on under the hood I'd suggest not getting a body kit at all..

A. it will look kinda lame on a brown car...

B. kit's are lame IMO

C. Ok that's it I just think kits are lame .... and I think down the road you will agree with me..

they fall apart don't last long and end up making your car look ghetto... just my opinion but if you're concerned with speed you're most likely gunna end up regretting getting a body kit...

and once it's on... there's no easy going back... they F all sorts of stuff up when installing body kits...

You got a point, I just want to make my car stick out from the rest. It's not the top thing on my list, it's one of the last actually. Brown makes it sound so bad it's almost like silver but tan instead of grey. But point well taken!

if you do decide to get kits, i'd say the first one...but i'd definitely get stuff done to the motor.

Don'tt wasted money on the body kits! :no:

cars that stand out (imports now more than ever) are cop magnets...spend the money on engine mods and make it stand out that way...dont draw unneeded attention to yourself from the boys in blue...or brown...or whatever

and don't go putting things like "OneShiftyAsian" on there either... it makes them all the more suspicious... not that i would know about doing such a thing.... :paranoid:

This should be the motto of all imports..... Around here, there were 5 people who got injured on a street racing. They blame it on 2F 2F...... So now, more and more imports are getting pulled over.

Besides with a kit it's gunna stand out because it's brown...

if you mod the engine it's only gunna stand out when you stand on it... and if you ask me that's when it counts...

for the money to buy install and paint a kit you could do a swap... and some work probobly.

^for sure...cost of both kit and paint would total over $1k (if its a decent kit and if good painting is done)

for that you can get a k20a installed (still gotta buy the motor though)

Turbo = Lots of $$$ $$$ $$$ $$$ $$$ $$$. I may look into the engine swap idea. I may drop the Honda SI engine in.

A K20 swap is about $5000 right now. Max Rev Turbo is about $3000 with intercooler and MF2 Fuel Management..... Just a thought....

Yeah turbo would be WAY cheaper than a swap for your car...


or nitrous... but that's an on or off kinda thing... not my flav.

Yeah wow, I'm looking at that turbo. I'm speechless. What is the difference between a regular motors and a "built motors" just the camshaft and all the internals are modified. I like those numbers 200-275. It doesn't even look like it's that hard to install either. Good call man your all about the turbo eh!

Yep, I like the "darkside". Built motors are basically engines with strenghtened internals. Cams are usually one of the last things that get changed. It usually starts from a low compression piston, upgraded piston rings, sleeves, port and polish, etc.

Installation on any turbo "kit" should not be hard. Dont pay $500-700 just to get it installed. It cant be that hard. I've done a few in D16's and B engines. Not hard......
