Playstation 2 problem

My playstation 2 seems to have a problem with reading "blue disks". Anybody else have had this problem? It won't even read brand new blue disks  and it has no problem reading the silver disks even if its scratched up a wee bit..

Does anybody here know what's wrong with my system?? I got the system when it first came out...the one with the GT3 included in the package...please help!

yeah, the earlier games were all on DVD format, but the "blue" disks aren't on that format. When Sony first released the PS2 they were expecting to only use games that were on DVD format, but then game companys started releasing games that were not on that format and sony started to change the way the PS2s were made. So the first few makings of the PS2 were made without the ability to read the disks that werent on DVD format. At least thats what i read somewhere. And if you can remember the first year or so of the regular playstation had problems too.

yah...well i'm not a lucky bastard like you! hehe jfwy

and my ps2 does not have a problem with reading scractched disks, just the blue ones...even if its brand new.. and i don't plan on gettin' a new system or ps2 anytime soon ( i'd rather buy parts for my car ;) )... i'll just wait for ps3 to come out..it'll happen sooner or later..

Blue disks?? Are you talking about the new games that come with blue disks, or the "illegal" copy ones?? Well, if its the new game ones, you can call Sony company, and they will replace it for you. Thats how I got mine.;)

yeah you can send it to sony and they will clear that up, but it has to do with the format that the disk is written with
