HID Conversion...?
Anyone do this on their car?
What did it cost? Do you really see a big diff between that and the $30 HID wanna be bulbs?? |
i dont know much about the HID conversion kit except for it costs a ton but i bought those Silverstart HID bulbs for my car they lasted for like maybe 4 months and the right side one would stop workin on low beam but bright still worked so i replaced it with my stock then eventually the other did the same thing and i replaced to stock lights totally i must say i was dissapointed considering they were $20 a piece
the wanna be hid bulbs have a tendency to not make any visible light when it rains.

is that true about the silverstar??? or the cheap taiwan HID wannabe bulbs? |
I have the cheap ebay specials, and they are awesome, I've had no problems with them what so ever.
An HID conversion for you civic is gonna cost you around $500 installed (not stolen, $200 stolen  ). The difference in visual output substantial. You will really see a big difference. The cheap hyper white bulbs can't compare to real HID's.
I can do the installation myself... I'm just wondering what the kit would cost and if anyone has done this.
if you do a kit into your existing headlight housings it won't be that great... the bulbs are TOTALLY different in design so they don't hit the refractor/reflectors the same so the patterns sucks...
the only way to get the benifits of hid is to install another car's stock hid headlights... other than that and it won't cast a good pattern at all... I've seen a couple with kits and they're bright where there's light but the pattern sucked on all of them. that I've seen at least. |
Wonder what car's light would fit in my location.... hrm.
i have some retrofit hid lights. they run for 450 shipped, but they won't be available 2 weeks from now.
Have you any idea how they look or work (not the technical side though)? Non brings up a good point about the way they project, never really though about this, wonder if anyone else had considered this or even thinks it'll make a difference.
redoing projector housings and then retrofiting oem spec hid makes the best output ive seen
Hondaman, your opinion on ^??
beats me, but retrofit sounds about the same with less headaches
damn, projector lights are like 200, and then $500 for the HIDS... is it worth the $700??
I bought some Eurolight HID bulbs for $30 from my local Honda dealer and they are infinitely better than the stock bulbs. I can't recommend them enough. They own!
$30 for both sets or for just the low beams?
i like my hella lights..
they work well even in the rain.. |
yellow beam right?
I'd like to see a pic of the lens and when theyre on and the amount of light produced |
I'd hope they work in the rain, that's suck if they are just like sorry, we don't support rain... and the lights turned off...

yup.. they are SICK.. and the key is they are MUCH more functional than ANY "blue plasma ion delux HID "style" bulb" and the best part is indirectly ( i say indirectly as the key motivating factor in purchase WAS function) they REALLY turn some ****ing heads.. lol just the other night at the parking lot that we set up races at EVERYONE was all like what the hell headlights are those.. lol |

certain colored light gets reflected off water, so become less effective in rain.. yellow is not one of those colors, thus making its wet weather performance just as good as dry |
^IE my damn blue bulbs...pimp when its dry...and good output then...but not when its wet (most of the time in mi)...or snowy...(from dec-april)
oc i really want to see some output pics...do that tonight for me alright? |

too hard to take a pic.. my digi is no tthe best.. i cna get you a pic showing color.. but the camera will not be fair along the lines of light output.. |
