Red Hat 7.1
Okay, so recently I installed Red Hat 7.1 on my system making it a dual boot of Red hat and windoze XP. The install sucked cause I pulled a "my bad" and chose desktop intall rather than custom. So I had to manually tell lilo to recognize the win xp partition. Once I did that, I ran into graphics card problems with xserver86. Not a big deal since this is to be expected from ATI:mad: Anyways I updated my Xserver and installed some actual working drivers for my graphics card. Now my question is, I am looking for a GUI interface and KDE seems to work fine for everyone I have talked to. What version do I need or does it even matter for Xserver version 2.2? Or would I just be better off and update to Red Hat 9.1?

yeah the KDE works the best. as for the other questions i have no clue

You know Redhat 9 is out right?
GNOME is nice. But I like KDE as well. |
Heh, i'm not even going to mess with 7.1... I just picked up version 9 and i'm going to just bomb the old version and install a fresh copy of 9.1

I just got done with a class that used RH7 exclusively. KDE and Gnome are both really nice, its just a matter of preference. RH9 should suit you better though.

i really haven't followed the linx stuff lately. is it available for download yet ? (freeeee ????)

each version becomes more user friendly it seems and is more based around the GUI (kinda like windows I hate to say) but that's cool I perfer GNOME!! it rocks :) I run slackware though not redhat.

I perfer GNOME too.. but I run my computer with Mandrake. I tried the RedHat but somehow it slows down my computer. |
GUI are nice but that not hard core my self i use only the prompt no GUI because it just like windows, and you will never learn UNIX/LINUX if you use the GUI. My Self i run two box one with FreeBSD which is very close to UNIX and SOLARIS 8 which is hard core UNIX.
