Geez, I dunno....the Viper definitely didn't look as fast as it should be. I taunted this kid drivin his mom's Viper a while back just so I could get him to rod it..damn that thing went ;) ;) ;) Oh yeah.

Dude..... It's a real VIPER! I was there that night when those 2 race in Houston around the westheimer area. The guy who owns that civic is a username st00pid. If you have been around the Honda web scene, you'll know this guy, or at least will recognized his posts. This mutha is a bad ass!!!! He is a full time tuner who runs a shop in Houston with especialties on turbo tuning. I saw another project of his on the track that ran freakin low 12's consistent with a stock B18B turbo semi-tuned! I think he was boosting around 15 psi....I cant remember. Dont ask me how he did, but this guy is a freakin genius. I do not live there anymore but I can assure that it was a real Viper. :yes:

Fastest *ALL MOTOR*civic around (not a sponsored drag car like at NHRA) was a 10.24. Anything is possible if you have the money..

but isn't that just the NAME?

you can swap a prelude engine into a civic and still call it a civic...although the inside really isn't.

I have a friend who has a Viper and there is no way in hell that guy was even trying to win the race. If he had mashed it on the start, you wouldn't even have been able to hear that civic over the engine of the viper and the race would have ended in half the time. I've seen a viper do the 1/4 mile before...it looked like that guy was just criusing

the video is crap you cant tell anything from it.

and if i was in a viper and all cocky and was going to just cruise in a race and all of a sudden a civic starts pulling on me I think I'd friggin hit the damn gas and win.

this was a race, a civic vs a viper, the civic won, the viper lost. deal with it.

who the hell makes a kit car to look like a viper anyway? the time and money put into it would be worth more than most used vipers i see for sale.

if you look at the video real close, you can tell what made the viper lose. In the beginning both cars are reving, if you listen to when they take off one of them peels out, and if you pay attention to the viper's lane there are skid marks for a good 20-25 feet. The viper was basically spinning his tires like mad but getting nothing out of it, that's why the honda pulled ahead.

so then the civic DID beat the viper...

welll you guys are really splitting hairs. you are saying that the viper is a better car than the civic ? yup it is it starts at 80k brand new where a civic starts at not even 13k. the viper got smoked so deal with it. video is the proof.

true, just cause the viper has a more "powerful" engine doesn't mean it will beat a civic. Both of those videos were based on acceleration to a high speed. it's probable a lot of cars could beat a viper. Of course if they went for top speed, the civic would eat dust.

Having rode my friends viper, I would have to disagree with the general consensus that a civic can readily take a viper. It did happen in this instance, and mad props to the winner, but I would say that a viper with an experienced driver would take a honda 99% of the time...especially at the drag strip
